Upgrade Issues

Recommended Posts

Is it me?  Is MSFS 2020 the WORST implementation of the simulator in HISTORY???

Right now I am installing the latest MANDATORY UPDATE and it never finished after about 12 hours.  When I restarted it I am now STUCK ON update 12/65 at 21%, It then drops back to 20 and maybe as HIGH as 22????

I have also had to reach out to Microsoft SEVERAL TIMES.. To get hacks to get things working!!!

Any ideas????

Thanks!!!

It looks like it required a Windows 10 update. It would be nice if the install checked the Windows Version and told you it needed the update. Instead of hanging!   I’ll have to do that check prior to future updates..🤔. I am holding my breath to see if it passes 20% this time👍👍

Spoke too soon…. Checking the MSFS…

Now stuck on 1% 1/54, installs and the resets back to 0%.  Endless Loop

Painful and frustrating - I feel sorry for you.    Luckily most people update fine, but there are certainly a lot of people having similar update problems.

I wish it was simpler - and maybe no so big a download!  I can't understand where all the gigabytes are coming from.
Maybe this time it was due to all of the 'optimised' textures they were swapping out.

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Have you checked other driver updates too? Maybe that's related? You also could try to log off and than log in into your xbox live account again.

Not sure if that might help, but did you tried uninstalling MSFS and set up a fresh install? Check also if you have any updates in the Microsoft Store (after restarting your computer).

Same issue here. Stuck on updates. Gets a little further each time. Sometimes I go and delete the airport package and it gets further. Heard great things about this update and I’m also just over it.

Anybody replying to this thread… have you been able to complete the update?

I opened a support request to Asobo Studios for support and it has been a week and it has gone crickets!

Thanks!

Provide us with some more information. What have you already tried? Did you try what we have already suggested?

EDIT: Yes; I have been able to download the updates.

Not to rub salt in your wounds, but the update completed in under 2 mins at my end.... and I don't even have very fast broadband! The update is 500Mb, so it sounds like some other issue, rather than server or bandwidth.

I had this when I first tried to install MSFS late last year.... it was agony!

All I can offer, is what worked for me at the time:-

  • I too was on an older version of Win10 and needed a big update
  • I was also on pretty old GPU driver software, as they worked so well with X-Plane, so didn't want to let them go!
  • I also did not have the "Xbox App" installed (even though I'm on PC and never used a Xbox in my life), so had to install that. (Just google "Xbox App".
  • I found I had to be logged into the Microsoft Store App, before launching MSFS
  • Finally, with these prerequisities taken care of, it actually downloaded quickly and smoothly.

I feel your pain brother - I've been there.  Hopefully a couple of other things above to try out.

Good luck!

The update hotfix installed via the MSFS in under a minute.

If you're having issues, 99% of the time, it's related to your system and set-up.

The update process is dead simple: never once had an issue.

I updated my Windows 10, and it didn’t help. My update indicates 6GB and when I click Update, it jumps to 16 GB on the progress bar. Installs 1/54 and then installs this update in an endless loop!

I wonder if an un-install and reinstall, which will probably take a full day to reinstall would be the only way to solve the issue.  A SOL bo Studios  tech support is non existent.

Hopefully someone will have a solution.

Thanks!
