The bug that seems to be flying under the radar...

Featured Replies

I use Avliasoft EFB and have never run into this issue. The way it works for me is when approaching an airport, and ATC gives me the runway, I see what approaches are available in EFB. If no star for that runway, I then see the waypoint before the FAF, and then FAF. If there is a star, then the way points in the star will be used.

I then select that approach I want in the  EFB, and it takes the waypoints, and puts them directly into the GPS ( 430 in my case). Then after the last waypoint in the flight plan, the very next waypoint in the GPS becomes the 1st waypoint in the approach I picked, and that is exactly  where the aircraft flies to. It works 100% of the time.  I do not dial anything into the GPS, I let EFB do that.

The other big advantage of EFB for me is RNAV approaches.  EFB gives a vertical profile in the moving map, so I don't care whether I have a RNAV/V or without Vertical, all I have to do is look at my aircraft flying down the vertical profile in my moving map, and just adjust my descent rate to stay on that profile. Works just like an ILS GS approach, except I do it glancing at the moving map rather than  a gauge in the cockpit.

Didn't know this was a bug and thought I was doing something wrong. Has been happening more often than not recently and I have switched to managed heading mode as I approach towards ILS capture.

In fact I was ironic. There is a big difference between being "not study level" and having a bugged autopilot which turns in circles when it feels like it, limits the climb rate to 400 ft/min above 20,000 ft, does not capture the ILS in many airports, causes CTDs on approach (like the G1000 did until now 90% of the times... not sure if at least that has been fixed).

I'm not asking a study level A320, just one that works in its basic features. Is it too much to ask after one year?

I just would like not to be forced to buy a study level aircraft from a 3rd party developer.

It's nothing to do with the aircraft but in how the internal flight planner works, and happens on the FBW 320 also.

I mean fair enough, I enjoy even the default A320, but if there are really breaking bugs like this, why have an MCDU in the first place?  I really struggle with seeing simmers enter a STAR that's six hours away when they are on the ground at a departure airport, rather than as normally happens just before your TOD.
