Can have smoke?

Featured Replies

Hey man, weren't we supposed to get some kinda particle effects in the SNAFU5 release that enabled smoke and stuff?  I mean, like, I get the water wake effects on the floats of the Cessna 172 but I thought there'd be some smoke for the nice big radials on the DC-6 and when I also saw an update for the Carenado YMF-5 in the Marketplace I got my hopes up.

But so far it seems to be a complete non-smoking section in this sim:

  • No engine startup smoke for the updated PMDG DC-6
  • No engine startup smoke for the updated Carenado YMF-5
  • No smoke system effects for the Carenado Waco even though it has a working "Smoke System" button
  • No smoke system effects for the stock Pitts Special even though it has an inop "Smoke System" button
  • Also nada for Extra 300 and Mudry CAP-10

And finally, even though the FlySimWare Grumman GA-44 Widgeon was updated to version 1.,5 today, sadly no water wake effects for it either.

Guess the effects may take a while or be challenging to implement?

Forest fire smoke in live weather would be great too

We're also missing vapor trails. DCS has nice ones and one of the funnest things to see when landing as a pax in humid weather.

which is weird, because I remember them adding them an update ago... what ever happened to them?

edit: My bad I misread your post! You're talking about something else. Please ignore me.

I actually used the wrong word. I meant wingtip vortices. Just look at how many atmospheric effects are in this video. MSFS is not there yet.

Doesn't look particularly difficult to me,  and Sgt. Schultz knows more about software development and modding than I do.
