Wow, I learned something critically different in MSFS that can't be said for P3D:  you CAN set monitor refresh to 60hz, AND set frame rate w/ vsync on to 30 in MSFS, and there is absolutely no adverse impact in GPU/CPU utilization!  This is not possible in P3D because if you cap frames w/ the frame limiter, there are untoward effects that are not happening in MSFS, which demands you set the frame slider to UNLIMITED in P3D, as Ray points out.  I don't believe Ray uses MSFS, but if you do Ray, you have to try this it's a game changer.  Not because I can see ANY real difference between 30 and 60Hz, but because it means you do not need a 30hz capable screen for MSFS.

Cheers!

Yep, exactly what I do.  I set 60HZ and cap it in FS at 30. Stable, low GPU impact.

I don't know how I missed it!

@Noel, I don’t have it and no immediate plans to buy it.

But a good find and consider adding it to the Tips & Tricks subforum.

I went back to 30Hz because I still use P3D on occasion and need it for that.  And once again, while there wasn't a downside in MSFS to setting refresh to 60hz, I found absolutely no upside to it either.  If n when i abandon P3D I will change the refresh to 60Hz and call it good, that is until an affordable microLED curved monitor arrives!

Yes, and a 3090 to enjoy it above 20 FPS, right? 😉

3080ti -> 40-50 FPS on ultra. In a good sim, not P3D 😉
