August 7, 20214 yr Ok, let me start by saying I am a compltee newbie when it comes to refresh rates, IPS, GSync, and all that gibberish. XD I am flying with an ASUS 1920x1080 60hz 27" monitor and a 2080 Super. I get consistent 60 frames on Ultra and I am very happy with it but as it happens I was wondering if I was not fully enjoying the capabilites of my rig and FS by not upgrading to a better Monitor. I checked the BEnq PU3200 32" and it looks incredible but I am afraid my performance might be hurt too much. So, question is, what would be a reasonable monitor upgrade for a 2080 Super? Thanks in advance guys. Iñigo Bildarratz
August 7, 20214 yr ASUS PG279Q or whatever the similar current model is. I've been very happy with it and the Gsync is really great for MSFS. Resolution of 2560 x 1440 will be a nice step up but without the burden of 4k. The biggest drawback of full-Gsync monitors like this is that they are quite expensive compared to Gsync-compatible or Freesync monitors, however, after having Gsync I'd really hate to not have it. You can get away with a Gsync-compatible if you can maintain fps above the Gsync threshold, which for most I believe is around 40 - 45 fps. i7-6700k • Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 • 32GB DDR4 2666 • EVGA FTW ULTRA RTX3080 12GB

Would it be possible to keep my Asus 27" 60hz(1920x1080) as a second monitor? Or would there be a conflict due to it being 1920x1080? Iñigo Bildarratz
August 8, 20214 yr Aristoteles, Unfortunately I cannot provide a definitive answer, but my guess is that if you use it for ancillary programs like LittleNavMap, or Navigraph Charts it would be fine. As far as I know there is no provision for multi-monitor display of MSFS, short of using a program like WideFS, but that would require 2 computers and a copy of MSFS for each computer. i7-6700k • Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 • 32GB DDR4 2666 • EVGA FTW ULTRA RTX3080 12GB
August 8, 20214 yr Consider a curved 3440x1440 ultra wide display. I prefer this because it sort of aligns with what an airplane cockpit displays--wide angle views, curved, etc, plus the performance impact is greatly reduced over 4K standard aspect ratio displays (height/width). I believe if you have an iPad there are apps to display LittleNavMap on, but not sure. What I do is simply toggle LNP up when I need to see it, so it stays open but behind MSFS. I also greatly prefer Vsync to 30hz, but it's hard to find displays that can do that. With a 2080 I think that would still be a very good idea for a 3440x1440 display. Perhaps a true G-sync display will get you to a similar place, perhaps at different frame rate than 30 which is what Vsync to 30Hz delivers. When you limit to 30fps thru a mechanism like this you greatly reduce demand on both CPU and GPU. This may come into play especially w/ complex airliners etc. Apparently HDR is a good thing for MSFS. My Dell U3415W supports 30hz, is curved, and has something called Dynamic Contrast which is decent but not the same as HDR. You can see from this shot from yesteray it looks quite good, near KLAX: Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. August 8, 20214 yr It’s not a problem to run your monitor as a second screen. Not at all. Just make sure you have the outputs on your video card. I sold my 32“ Asus IPS some days ago and switched to a LG OLED 48“ 4K with 120hz and Gsync. It’s a Dream.
August 8, 20214 yr Moderator @Aristoteles, your 2080 Super compares very favourably with my 1080Ti that I run in P3D v5.2 at 3840*2160. I can set my monitor to 30Hz which is critical for great performance. No point having 80fps when flying over ocean if it drops to 20 when on final approach. Do you want a bigger display? It gives greater immersion providing you have the space. I can recommend the BenQ PD3200U with your card. Although I don’t have MSFS you have plenty of control over settings to get 30fps without needing GSync which adds a lot to the cost. It’s a quality monitor and hard to beat. https://www.benq.eu/en-uk/monitor/designer/pd3200u.html Ray (Cheshire, England). I also have an ultrawide 49" but, for flight-simming, the TV offers a much more immersive experience. It comes with a price, though... Size is irrelevant. It's the number of pixels that matter. The downside of a larger 4K display over a smaller one is pixel density. They're more spread out on larger ones so whilst you get great immersion you won't get the clarity of a smaller display. My 1080Ti easily returns 30fps in most situations. The 3090 is overkill for flight sim. Ray (Cheshire, England).
