ASP3D and low fps.

Featured Replies

After the update to 7857 I have got redused fps everytime I start ASP3D in P3dv.5.2 hf1. Normally I have  30-35 fps when I start P3d, but as soon as I start ASP3D with ASCA and Envshade, the fps drop 10-15 fps. To me it seems that the more clouds,  the higher drops. I have contacted Hifi support, but they could not give me a good answer. They say there is no change in the program that should cause this. I got some advice which I have tried, but no change. I have now 7900 and the drop in fps is still there. Has anyone experienced the same and solved it? Could it be a Envshade problem?

7877 is the latest "official" release, and 7900 is the newest beta, released just in the last day or two.  ASCA also has a new official version 7884.

I'd recommend you update your version to current, check your configs, clear your shaders, and see if the problem is still there.

I have latest version of ASP3D and ASCA, and I have deleted shaders, but the problem is still there. I have tried the latest official and the latest beta version.

i concur ,all of a sudden with beta 7900 fps drop to 16 from locked 30 using ultra vol  clouds enabled.

Mike

Hi,

No drop here however I use the level below ultra.

Will try later with ultra

NB.I see that drop using the Ultra setting!

I'm seeing a common "thread" amongst many of these posts about reduced performance: volumetric clouds.

Personally, I don't like how they look so I turned them off.  I have a 9700K cpu and 2070 super video card and performance is fantastic, better than v4.5.  I'm using Active Sky P3D.

It's clear to me that these volumetric clouds heavily tax any system.  Hopefully LM will improve them and optimize their performance in future versions.

Yes with ultra and high vol Clouds set  has dropped.

before that wasn’t the case.

I don’t use ultra or volumetric clouds, and I still have a 10-15 fpsdrop when I use ASP3D and ASCA. I updatet the NVidia driver yesterday, and I got +5 better frames, but the same drop.

Many layers of dense high-def clouds can be a performance challenge, especially with high-res monitors, aggressive levels of AA and/or older or mid-range GPUs.  There's no mention here of settings or hardware, so it's hard to assess whether the drop might be resulting from overcommitment of system resources.
