YBBN Brisbane

Featured Replies

Hey @Ray Proudfoot

I saw you post on Orbx re: YBBN Brisbane

Tried to respond on the thread , however it kept erroring, perhaps an internet glitch.

The airport is not too bad on the inside, one huge long courseway with gates, shops etc. as well as the rotundas.

And many a time I've walked those steps both up and down and and also caught flights via the jetway rotundas as well.

One time I even had to run from the middle of the main terminal to the far North rotunda to catch a flight (a gate change I didn't notice till I was called up).

I think it's a pretty good representation myself, resource heavy though, at least on my 1070ti.

Cheers

Hi @Rogen. Nice screenshots. I hope you weren’t too out of breath after that run! 😁

On the performance side with the Xtreme Prototypes Lear 25 I was struggling to get 30fps when taxiing and also on takeoff.

I later loaded the PMDG 737 and also turned off many of the options. Performance was better with 30fps maintained. I’ll need to check if that’s down to the options I disabled or the switch of aircraft.

I bought Brisbane for Concorde flights to New Zealand and via Pago Pago to Hawaii.

Simobject shadows in BNE v2 kill FPS, at least on my system. It’s poorly designed.

That’s surprising for Orbx. Has this been reported to them and if so, what was their response? You don’t list your hardware so hard to draw comparisons.

Ray,

I realise your system is way more advanced than mine and you are running 4k but for what it's worth, with my standard (medium +) settings with shadows active and flyting PMDG 744. I just now tried YBBN and got 30 fps from the gate to flying. No drop at all.

Ian,

Do you have all Orbx options on for YBBN?

Yes. Everything is ticked.

Checked again now. Around 27fps at gate 76 and 30 +/- on taxi and take off. (Limited at 30). EA/HDR on.

@IanHarrison, I'm tearing my hair out with the combination of the PMDG737NGXu and Orbx YBBN.

With 30Hz set and VSync on fps in the sim should be limited to 30. But positioned at 19L C&D Shift+Z shows 22fps. If I turn off VSync it shows 34fps. But if I go into slew mode and move around the micro-stutters are very obvious and it's not smooth at all.

If I switch to a Carenado PC12 everything is ultra-smooth at 30Hz (30fps maintained throughout).

This is with EA/HDR both OFF. I cannot understand why the PMDG737 has such a massive hit at this airport.

Did you also notice in the YBBN Configure screen there's no option for having AUS v2 installed which means the BGLs for YBBN in that package remain active. I've renamed them but really the installer should have that option. I'll question that on their forum.

I've just discovered what is killing performance with the combination of the PMDG737NGXu and Orbx YBBN.

Dynamic Reflections! Anything higher than Medium kills performance. No mention of this in the YBBN User Guide. I've posted this on the Orbx forum.

Well done. My setting is on low, that would explain it.

If you're feeling masochistic try High. 😁

Yup! Saw a 10 fps drop, immediately reversed when reset to Low.

I have Melbourne and Canberra too but no such issues with those airports. Hard to believe one change of a setting can have such a huge impact. Maybe a 3090 handles it better. Only 1500GBP if you can find one! 🤣

Aren't you lucky! Only 15000 GBP. Best price here for what you can get is around ZAR 39000. Roughly 19500 GBP.

None are available unless bought as part of a build. I wouldn't buy one anyway. 24Gb VRAM for P3D???
