I would highly recommend investing in a decent helmet. Either a lite motorcycle/scooter helmet or at the very least, a cycling helmet that uses MIPs system.

Thanks for the excellent advice. There are a number of things I need to obtain before my first ride, the first of which is a bicycle pump with a Schrader valve. I also will buy a scooter helmet. The RadRunner Plus is limited to 20mph on a flat, paved surface, although I never intend to go that fast!

Walking speed is quite sufficient for me...

Bill, you've got me worried.  First, bicycles with smaller tires are less likely to remain upright on their own and second, the slower you go, the less the effect.  If you're excessively breakable like my mother is, maybe you really should consider a three wheeler.  I think they're cool.  You could get a recumbent e bike and put a drink holder, an umbrella, and a large orange flag on it.  or maybe get one of those enclosed pedal cars.

You might want to hold off on the extender battery and do some riding and then evaluate whether you can make use of the extender. I got one for my specialized and found out I really don't need it. I only take it on longer rides and its main use is psychological for range anxiety.

My bike is 320Wh base battery and 160Wh for the extender and most rides I never even come close to needing the extender (and most of my rides are between 20-40 miles and I rarely charge to 100%). The bike is only 27 pounds so for an e-bike it is light, and of course the range will decrease depending on how much assist you use and the terrain. From what I can see the RadRunner is 672Wh for the main battery so unless you routinely ride more than 20 miles on hilly terrain with a lot of assist I suspect that will do fine for you.

My butt has become more of a limiting factor on my bike ride lengths than the battery... 🤪

Buy a bigger seat or padded biking pants and give that butt some love.

Well, my shiny new Rad Runner Plus was delivered by FedEx just before noon today. The driver picked it up and carried it across the street easily. I thought to myself "Oh joy, that doesn't look all that heavy!"

I'm happy that the driver offered to carry it into my house. There is no way I would have been able to do that by myself. OMG, this thing is H E A V Y !

The box is torn a bit on one side, but there doesn't seem to be anything but air behind the tear. I'll have to wait for my handyman to help be unbox this thing. 🙃
