Anyone know if it is possible to shorten the distance to the destination approach when flying IFR? If flying between relatively close airports, the ATC sends me out in a long loop before lining me up with the destination runway. When flying GA aircraft, I would prefer a shorter approach. The Vector Leg Distance option on the FltPln tab of config lets you control  the length of vectored legs.

I would set it to 1 for low and slow flights.

Plan and fly your own approaches based on the approach plates.

Tks, I"ll have to try and work out how to do this.

I use a Flight Sim Commander for flight planing and have a subscription to Navigraph for the approach plates.  There are many other flight planners with work as well but I think you need to invest in Navigraph or a similar update service to keep the planners up to date with the latest AIRAC cycle.  The flight planners should include the various airways, intersections, approaches, SIDS and STARS for a particular airport.  I use Navigraph Charts to print the airport information and layout.  I also print the approaches as a reference while landing. Sometimes I create my own approaches to make it simple. I hope this helps,
