September 18, 20214 yr Anyone know if it is possible to shorten the distance to the destination approach when flying IFR? If flying between relatively close airports, the ATC sends me out in a long loop before lining me up with the destination runway. When flying GA aircraft, I would prefer a shorter approach. Many thanks.
September 18, 20214 yr Commercial Member The Vector Leg Distance option on the FltPln tab of config lets you control the length of vectored legs. I would set it to 1 for low and slow flights. Dave
September 19, 20214 yr Plan and fly your own approaches based on the approach plates. James M Driskell, Maj USMC (Ret)
September 19, 20214 yr I use a Flight Sim Commander for flight planing and have a subscription to Navigraph for the approach plates. There are many other flight planners with work as well but I think you need to invest in Navigraph or a similar update service to keep the planners up to date with the latest AIRAC cycle. The flight planners should include the various airways, intersections, approaches, SIDS and STARS for a particular airport. I use Navigraph Charts to print the airport information and layout. I also print the approaches as a reference while landing. Sometimes I create my own approaches to make it simple. I hope this helps, Jim James M Driskell, Maj USMC (Ret)
