September 20, 20214 yr Hi I've been experiencing a very annoying performance problem with my simulator. Basically, with any aircraft and scenery, it starts with 100% of GPU usage and peak performance. However, the GPU usage slowly starts to decrease, causing massive FPS drops and lagging, making the whole thing almost "unflyable". Test with the Majestic Q400: With default scenery, the initial FPS in the VC is 20~25 FPS, but it quickly decreases until it reaches 5 FPS or even lower. Note: The problem started around a week ago, and I've never seen such issue before. What could be causing this issue? Is there any settings I can change to make it stop acting this way? Specs: Simulator: Prepar3D v4.5.12 CPU: Intel Core i7 8th Gen RAM: 8 GB GPU: Radeon 520 2GB Windows 10 Home Edition (21H1 Update) P.S.: I'm aware this isn't exactly the best setup for this flight simulator, but the point here is that I didn't have this issue before, but for some reason this keeps happening since last week...
September 20, 20214 yr Maybe GPU was overheating and then throttling? Try limiting your FPS (either internally, using RTSS or whatever Radeon drivers use). September 21, 20214 yr Try again at lower settings. I'm sure the low amount of ram and Vram are causing the problems. The only way to fix with out spending money on the problem is to lower settings, turn off all shadows too. See if that helps. September 29, 20214 yr Author I lowered the settings over and over again but the GPU usage and FPS keeps falling down over time. Any ideas?

That can accumulate and at a certain point, it becomes a problem, that your system is no longer cooled enough. Check air filters and coolers for dust. Ahhh, found that old pic from my PC ones.
