100 times more powerful than Carrington Event!

Featured Replies

😫 Yes folks, 100 times more powerful. And new research is suggesting much more common than thought.

Given that people are beating each other up in petrol station queues in the UK, what will they do if a "gigantic super flare" hits us and modern society is shut down?

If a super flare hits us I won't have the dilemma of keeping P3Dv5 or switching to MSFS.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

I'd better buy some more sunscreen! 🌞

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱
Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!

Here is the Solar Report for this week. Expecting a possible X-Flare. I've been waiting for this new solar cycle to improve HF propagation. Now that the solar index is in the triple digits, my stupid HF antenna still hasn't been re-hung. I'm not physically fit to climb ladders any longer, and I have no one to help out... 😪

Join the club Fr. Bill.  Falling of a ladder when I was trying to get up on the roof and a severe scolding from my doctor about 80 year olds trying to what they did when they were younger while he stitched up my head without a shot first taught me a lesson.

Luckily I have a handy man to do it all for me.  His wife and daughter mow our lawns every other week and he and his son fix the roof, rake up the leaves after Thanksgiving, repair the fence, replace sprinkler heads, and just a few days ago cleaned out the rain gutters and replaced the damaged ones.   They are affordable and a Godsend.

Not sure if sunscreen works for charged particles. However, I can indeed sell you my latest Coronal Mass Ejection cream that can do just that. I charge 1000 of your American Dollars for a tub. let me know if you want some.

Carrington Event if occurred today would cause one to two trillion dollars in damage. Yikes, god knows what a "gigantic Super Flare would cost us.
