October 31, 20214 yr I know how to replace a small drive with a larger one, I've done it with hard disc mechanical desktop HDD's. And also on a laptop (using a USB to SATA converter dongle to plug the new larger SATA laptop drive into one of the laptop USB ports, so that the clone software could see both external and internal drives. Cloned the smaller to the larger and swapped it into the laptop and of course it worked fine. My problem: I have a desktop that only takes an M2 drive which snaps onto the mother board. But there is only one slot. So how do I get the clone software to see both drives to clone one to the other? Both drives are M2. I have no clue how to temporarily plug in the other M2 drive so that Windows can see it? This is a commonly done procedure, so there is no doubt an easy way? 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. October 31, 20214 yr Use the cloning software to make an image of the current drive and store it on another drive in your system. If you do not have another drive in your system, get a USB external drive and use that. Once you have the image safely stored, replace the old M.2 with the new M.2 and use the cloning software to restore the image to the new drive. You will need cloning software that allows you to create a bootable USB stick with the clone software on it. October 31, 20214 yr Moderator They make M2 SSD USB adapters. Get one, plug the new M2 into the USB adapter. Run your close software. Replace old M2 with new. Good to go. There are several quick tutorials on google - some are software specific so search for your particular software. RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
