Reliable "Jump to/ahead" feature in MSFS?

Featured Replies

Hi all, with MSFS maturing more and more and hopefully some nice AI traffic within the next 6 months, I might reconsider doing longhauls from big hubs to other big hubs. For me, due to restricted timeframes, doing sim flights over 3h in real time were never an option, that is why the QW 787 was more or less the only long hauler I ever used extensively back in P3D days. Although not entirely perfect, the "jump ahead" feature of this addon enabled me to perform flights of whatever lenght within this 3h window, something I really liked and used quiet often.

Now to the question: does something comparable exist in MSFS (yet)? I know that you can somehow jump to a waypoint, but does this work? With whatever addon? Or is there even a stand alone addon available that allows something comparable to the "jump ahead" feature in the QW 787? Thanks for any hint...

I dont know if this might suit your purpose but in this add on there is a teleport feature

FS2020 has a 'Fly To' feature that works for any aircraft you choose.  The downside is it's not fully realized meaning once you jump to the decent your autopilot is off, auto throttle is off, NAV is turned off, some lights are off, and pitot/window heat is off.  All you have to do is turn these things back on and your out of maybe 2,000ft getting things back up.  It beats the alternative of a long flight when you have limited time.  These issues were supposed to get resolved but as of now this is what you have to deal with.  At least SU6 resolved the issue introduced in SU5 where the engines were off when you got to your jump point meaning you had to do a mid-air engine start.  This feature looks to be low priority for Asobo as it hasn't worked correctly since the release of the sim no matter how many tickets we put in.  It's like requesting a working HUD and a full cabin for the Longitude (not going to happen anytime soon).  Once you play around with it, put in a help ticket for the issues you find, and look up/search in the official forums for others having issue with it you'll still find the feature even in it's current state useful/serves the need very well.  It's a very nice feature that's ignored by purists but most of us don't have time for 3 to 8 hour flights in real time.

If you have a registered copy of FSUIPC7 you might find these Lua scripts useful at some point:

-- MSFSmoveAircraft -- let's you specify distance and direction to move, new altitude, new heading and new airspeed.

https://forum.simflight.com/topic/93513-msfsmoveaircraft-lua-script/

-- Set Future Pause for MSFS or P3D  -- let's you set future time for the sim to pause from 1 minute to days after the script is run.
