EA - Spot View v VC View Any Ideas on this Issue?

Featured Replies

For some time I have been puzzled by the way EA and True Sky work in P3D particular when you consider you spend most of your time in the cockpit and now and then have a look outside via the Spot View or similar.

There have been a lot of complaints or unhappiness with either dark cockpits or outside haze and the way it all looks. I guess what I have now noticed and the following screen shots will confirm is that when you look outside from the cockpit the sky is always relatively indistinct and quite hazy unless you zoom out into the sky area there it clears up a bit BUT if you switch to the spot view of outside view that haze look vanishes and the cloud and sky is actually quite accurate (using real weather) and not really what I am seeing from inside.

So is this an issue with the glass texture used in most models or is it the way EA works particularly with respect to keeping the cockpit relatively darker to say outside where there is a lot of light. I guess I would be interested in peoples views or whether there is a fix or adjustment to this. I have tried various shader settings, light brightness and contrast etc. While I do not really suffer the dark cockpit syndrome of some the lack of clarity and perpetual haze appearance ot the outside world from the cockpit just seems wrong! I noted that most MSFS screenshots taken from inside cockpits in that sim do not exhibit this problem.

Here is what I mean
Here is the view north at midday in North Africa from the Cockpit, I have zoomed out a bit to show the sky more clearly or as clear as it can be:

Now here is the same view looking north from outside the aircraft - you will notice immediately the haze is there what I would call normal for this part of the world and  the cloud base and cloud is quite distinct and quite nice but this I just do not see from the VC.

My best guess is that it is the glass textures used in the models that cause this opaqueness or hazy look - I am not sure if there are any readily available glass textures one could try changing to see if this indeed the case or it is and EA issue or both!

Just in case somebody asks or suggests turning off EA here are two shots EA and True Sky now turned off.

There is a definite loss of colourisation with no EA but the VC view is not really significantly better it seems to me.

Interesting that on my setup the colourisation shifts to the blue side with EA off.

i do not suggest anything, after weeks of tweaking i gave up EA and HDR - my conclusion is that those are very messy.

I couldn't set up proper visuals - either cockpit was good or world outside, both never - so i gave up.

Maybe 5.3 finally they do something to fix that mess.

those VC "views" look real to me ..... sorta hides the "inaccuries" of the landclass

Johnny19 - thanks for that tip. Had not noticed that control there before. Seems to correct the issue - not sure about the light overall now seems brighter and darker. Thanks,
