November 18, 20214 yr Hello Guys, 1) I have noticed strange behaviour of my P3D. In my opinion I am getting poor performance, especially in the cockpit, where (the same situation with any aircraft) I have 23-25 FPS with the GPU utilisation at max 50%. For instance on the outside views I am getting ~40 FPS with the constant >90% GPU utilisation. The CPU remains at 10-20%. 1) I have also noticed the performance degradation during flight. I made a test. I was departing from EGLL having 25-27 FPS in the cockpit (GPU utilisation at 50% and CPU 10-20%). Made 50 nm trip and get back to EGLL for landing (the same arrival runway as departing runway). I have noticed significant drop in the FPS (on average 18-20 FPS on final). What is also interesting, my CPU usage go up for 50-60% with the 90-100% spikes while GPU is sitting with the 20 utilisation. I am wondering what can cause the 1) and 2) issue Here is my spec: Intel 10700K GeForce 3080 Ti DDR4 32GB 3600Mhz RAM I am using a 4K 40inch monitor as main one and 2 1080P monitors for other things HT ON, no GPU or CPU overclocking My P3D graphic settings are as follows: https://imgur.com/a/nFssW0K In the Nvidia Control Panel I am only using the power mode selected into Prefer maximum performance No tweaks in the CFG file Below please find the few screenshots which show the problem I describe above (you have to zome in to see the CPU and GPU load). https://imgur.com/a/h5jd6kq I am also using X-Plane 11 and MSFS, in both of them my GPU is always utilised >90% Would appreciate your help

Micro stutters appearing suddenly in cruise or after landing, often during period of what is otherwise CPU/GPU loading. Same exact performance loss being reported/discussed here with a potential solution: https://prepar3d.com/forum/posting.php?mode=reply&f=6322&t=143590 Since the release of HF1 countless other users have reported the same gradual performance loss (micro stutters) beginning during cruise or after landing. Suggest you try the solution shared in the prepar3d thread linked above. On my end no more sudden micro stutters appearing in cruise after setting SwapChainVSyncOnlyMainWindow=0 I also downgraded to v5.2 previously to troubleshoot, no sudden micro stutters. It only happens in HF1 and the above setting was introduced and defaulted to =1 in HF1. P.S. my RTX 3080Ti also barely exceeds 20% load during cruise and that at 4K. LM shifted way too much work back to the CPU in v5.2 and even more so in v5.2 HF1…. Edited November 19, 20214 yr by PinkPony

November 19, 20214 yr F737NG -- I'm in your boat. My performance is pretty weak given my system capabilities and it hardly matters what setting I use. In and around an airport I often drop below 20 fps and night performance is sometimes worse. I'm using pretty typical stuff: FS Labs, PMDG, Leonardo, Active Sky, Orbx Global and LC items, 3rd party airports (e.g., Aerosoft EGLL, Flightbeam), Chaseplane and FSUIPC. Microstutters are nearly constant and some big stutters pop-up from time-to-time. I've done the real-time protection exceptions and even tried just turning it off. No difference. System: 5950x, 3090, 64GB, 38 inch monitor 3840x1600, G-Sync Utlimate.

I'm actually a lot happier with my new 3080 Ti. The stuttering I had whenever there was heavy cloud cover while on my GTX 1070 is gone. One thing I may have spotted for you is that using a 5950X may be trying to split too many tasks over too many CPU cores. I think I read somewhere that P3D only likes using up to 8 cores - though don't quote me on that! I've set my AffinityMask in Prepar3D.cfg to 65525, allowing Core 0 and Core 1 to run the main P3D tasks without multi-threading them, and moving all other computer tasks to the remaining threads (4-15 on my 3700X CPU) by using Windows PowerShell (admin mode) and typing: Get-Process | % { $_.ProcessorAffinity=65520 } Maybe @SteveW would like to chime in here? Additionally, I have my G-sync compatible monitor set to 60 Hz, connected with a quality Display Port cable, G-sync selected in Nvidia Control Panel and max frame rate limited to 30 FPS under the P3D dropdown in 'Manage 3D settings'. Since NCP is limiting framerate externally, I have 'Target Frame Rate' set to Unlimited in P3D itself, but VSync is turned on. I do limit my P3D settings to minimise the opportunities for P3D to oversaturate my CPU. Autogen and Scenery Draw Distance set to medium and no Road Vehicles, Ships and Ferries or Leisure Boats, whenever I'm using a complex airliner, a complex airport and TrueEarth as scenery. AI aircraft limited to no more than 90 until on the ground. Absolutely no Dynamic 3D Autogen Vegetation ever. Honestly, apart from stutters at a poorly optimised Tokyo-Haneda scenery and some occasional blurred textures in very dense TrueEarth areas (e.g. TE WA with Drzewiecki Seattle + airports), P3D 5.2HF on the new GPU has been a dream for me. November 19, 20214 yr Interesting point on the affinity mask. I should definitely look into that. I've got the same set-up with my G-Sync monitor: 30 FPS limited in NCP, my refresh rate for the monitor 120 but still equally divisible by 30, and I have unlimited FPS in P3D and vSync on. I have tried a variety of settings with limited changes in performance (not counting dropping all the sliders to nothing). Unless I'm flying on Vatsim, I have no AI on. True Earth GB South is unworkable. TE Southern California is ok. I keep the autogen down and most of the time I don't even use EA. I will say that FS Labs is the one add-on where performance is definitely worse in the virtual cockpit. Anyway, thanks.
November 20, 20214 yr I received a pretty decent performance boost after turning hyperthreading off on an I9. Using affinity mask to limit to physical cores may work as well. Though, I haven’t tried that yet. I9-9900, 32 GB RAM, RTX 3090 FTW
