November 25, 20214 yr I would like to use a usb switch to keep my yoke and joystick connected to a single port on my computer so that I don't have to physically switch usb cables when I change from a yoke plane to a stick plane. Can this be done with a simple type A USB A/B switch? If so, will I need to provide a 5v power source to the switch?

Just decide whether you need a USB 3.0 version or 2.0 version. Older peripherals do not like USB ver. 3. I got a USB 2.0 a year ago and swap out Wheel and Warthog Hotas on a whim at any time. Cost was about 7 USD at that time. Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz (8 cores) Hyper on, Evga RTX 3060 12 Gig, 32 GB ram, Windows 11, P3D v6, and MSFS 2020 and a couple of SSD's
November 27, 20214 yr Some unpowerd and powered USB hubs have a switch associated with each port which makes it convenient to select which controllers you want to use at any time. For example: 4 port unpowered hub with switches: https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-4-Port-Individual-Switches-HB-UM43/dp/B00JX1ZS5O 7 port powered hub with switches: https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Individual-Switches-Adapter-HB-BUP7/dp/B079GT1ZVS I have this hub and it has worked well. I'm sure a search on Google will turn up hubs from other manufacturers with similar features to the above . Al Edited November 27, 20214 yr by ark
