November 26, 20214 yr Size upgrade for SSD drives that mount direct on the motherboard. $199 Amazon. I have seen this for months there for about $325. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-Plus-MZ-V7S2T0B/dp/B07MFZXR1B Chart of past prices on Amazon... https://camelcamelcamel.com/product/B07MFZXR1B If you're not familiar with upgrading your drive, you need free cloning software, a M.2 NVME SSD to USB Enclosure Adapter metal case (about $15). And maybe a long shaft screwdriver if you motherboard has hard to reach mounting screws instead of just handy finger clips. Look at the MB to see. Adapter: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=M.2+NVME+SSD+Enclosure+Adapter%2C+USB&i=electronics&ref=nb_sb_noss free software: the free version 8 is for cloning drives, but not for doing regular backups. the payware edition is for cloning AND backups. https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree?mo Notice @4:22 he was going to have maybe 693 GB left over and unused on the new drive so he resets the size so less than 1 GB is unused. (Make sure you cloning the old drive still on the motherboard over to the new drive in the little adapter interface case, and not the other way around, or you end up with two empty drives)! It works the same with a desktop as with a laptop, except the drive slot on the motherboard may be harder to access. Took me about 1/2 hour waiting for 500GB clone process. No problems, been using the new 2TB drive for a month now. Then you may want to put the old drive in the adapter case and use it for a portable USB drive. (He's using a different technology of M.2 drive and adapter (SATA). But the physical and software process of the upgrade is exactly the same for the newer and much faster nvme drives like your computer probably uses instead of SATA). But the adaptor case for new computers needs to be nvme to USB instead of SATA to USB). https://www.howtogeek.com/657972/nvme-vs.-sata-which-ssd-technology-is-faster/ Edited November 26, 20214 yr by Fielder 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. November 26, 20214 yr Just be careful with ordering this from Amazon! I ordered one last week and got an opened box with the hard drive missing. The Amazon packaging was not tampered with so apparently it was stolen at the Amazon facility before shipment. I did get a full refund after I contacted their customer support. November 27, 20214 yr Fielder, you're a champion. I got one to replace my 1TB NVME drive. Despite the shipping and import taxes, it is still cheaper than anything else (of that quality) I could find in my local market i7-12700KF, RTX 3080 12GB, 64GB DDR4 3600MHz, ASUS PG348Q 34" ultra-wide monitor, Track IR 5, HP Reverb G2, Windows 10 64-bit
