VKB MK IV Rudder Pedals sensitivity

Featured Replies

My rudder pedals are 'over sensitive' and I do not seem to be able to find a happy setting within MSFS 2020. That said, I am happy with the way they perform in P3D. Has anyone else got these pedals, and if so can you share your sensitivity settings within MSFS 2020.

Any other thought would be appreciated.

I have in mind that I used -30 in sensitivity when I had them.

System: I ASRock X670E | AMD 7800X3D | 64Gb DDR5 6000 | RTX 4090 | 2TB NVMe | Seasonic Vertex 1000W I LG Ultra Gear 34 UW I

One thing I do with those VKB mk iv pedals is size #82 rubber bands (2-1/2" x 1/2"). Put on each pedal, just strapped on to the outside of the pedals. Increases the forces necessary to apply or maintain yaw. So they're not so touchy.

Normally I fly with Sensitivity at -40 -40 (a mild curve) and Extremity at 0% (normal). If plane is really a bear (like the default Pitts 2 seater) I also set Extremity at 40% along with the -40 -40 Sensitivity. Because I never ever want full rudder in the default Pitts (one of my favorites).

Some planes are quite manageable and some are twitchy. So, I have 5 rudder profiles.

If a plane needs lots of rudder, but also a non sensitive response (like most of the wwii warbirds) I use extremely mild sensitivity -60 -60. But extremity at 0 (normal) so I can still apply full rudder when needed on the ground to yank the plane back to the center line quickly.

Bottom line is if you can't find a Sensitivity to do what you want, then try Extremity changes.

I don't believe in one size fits all for controller profiles. I love the VKB pedals a lot. Light years better than the CH Pro pedals I used to have.

I’m using the mkiv as well and set up the curve to have low sensitivity at the early part of the axis then slowly ramp up. Can share a screen later today when I’m back at my pc. Works well for most aircraft but it does make sense to maybe set up a couple of profiles with a different curve depending on the aircraft.

A good starting point is -30 for both left and right axis and the Extremity deadzone to 30.
