December 14, 20214 yr AIG disciples, some input please. Last night I decided to sign up to the AIG forum in anticipation of installing their AI today and after the most ridiulous bot barrier I have ever encountered - which ammounted to a long winded aviation quiz with esoteric questions about engine types on mostly retired airliners that even this old aviation nerd had to research to answer - I was then told by the algortihm that my application needed to be authorised. Well, okay, but this irritated me slightly because after proving myself to be a human willing to be the butt of a joke and to do my homework and pass an exam simply to join a forum to download some freeware I fail to see the need for an adjudicator to then come along to assess whether I am worthy to join the club. I mean, short of arranging a follow up interview and requesting a referrence from my Dr and local pub landlord what on earth is the point? Well, "whatever" I thought, I'm sure I will have been issued my "papers" by the morning and I can still download and install the program tomorrow regardless..........errrr..... Today I have downloaded what I need and in setting it up I realise I need to login to avsim in the program but also their forum in order to download and install what I need in the program. So I can't do that until I have been "approved". How daft. How long does this process take? Is likely to be "having my car fixed" sort of time or are we more in the realm of NHS waiting lists as a result of poor governance, management and hysteria? "One click installer" Hardly. How absurdly convoluted for 2021. 5800X3D - Strix X570-E - 32GB 3600Mhz DDR4 - AMD RX 9070 XT- Samsung 980 Pro x2
December 14, 20214 yr What input are you seeking? AIG is, in my view, one of the best addons, free or otherwise, in the flightsim community. I suppose you can go and pay for an inferior product elsewhere if the process isn't to your satisfaction. Yes, you need to log in to certain libraries to be able to access the freeware material, the alternative would be to just give AIG free reign to control your computer itself, even more daft for 2021. Ahh, a true believer. A desciple indeed. Completely misses the point and the humour and instead rushes to the defense of his faith from a perceived attack that isn't there and instead of having a giggle and answering the question that was actually in there, even if not entirely serious, feels it best to respond to things never asked for and suggest that the new attendee attend another place of worship. No room for questions and humour in this church😉 The process so far is a little absurd and it would be impossible for me to judge the product for myself because it is currently impossible to install due to the ridiculous barrier in the process which is the "approval". I find this absurdity funny and decided to have some fun with it whilst positing a question to the willing who have been through the "approval" or "initiation" or whatever you would like to call it . If this dents your faith in some way feel free to ignore the thread instead of telling me to move on to another product. Lighten up, pal. 5800X3D - Strix X570-E - 32GB 3600Mhz DDR4 - AMD RX 9070 XT- Samsung 980 Pro x2
December 14, 20214 yr Some freeware is it? Not the combined efforts of hundreds of people creating hundreds of free AI aircraft models, including amongst other things, moving flaps and reversers , thousand's of free liveries and hundreds of free accurate flight plans, all updated seasonally. Not the combination of thousand of individual copyrights, the owners of which have given their permission for them to be bundled up into a world-wide package on the strict condition that their rights are protected and acknowledged. Not a sophisticated piece of software that brings this all together with increasingly innovative features such as airline traffic following airways and helicopter flights. Not a set of constituents that's been stolen before and sold to unwary purchasers who could have had the same thing for free thanks to the goodwill of all the contributors. Your account pic is Winston Churchill making a V for Victory sign. That is is more appropriate in its alternate meaning to your impatience and lack of understanding of what all this entails. Yes, it's awful how many joyless tortured souls are unable to recognise humour until it's spelled out for them these days. Punctuated by silly faces and coloured text and such like. Unable to laugh until it's prescribed in some fashion. Forum interactions used to be fun. 🙄 5800X3D - Strix X570-E - 32GB 3600Mhz DDR4 - AMD RX 9070 XT- Samsung 980 Pro x2
December 14, 20214 yr Heh-heh-heh. I've not tried AIG but I love your response. I like your sarcasm. Let's raise this up the flagpole and see if anybody salutes. I've never seen an AIG, I hope I never see one. But I can tell you this, I'd rather see than be one! Noel Edited December 14, 20214 yr by birdguy The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
