Another John Madden story.....

Featured Replies

When I was a bit younger (like a long time ago) I was always involved in Little League baseball. Player, coach, manager, player agent, league vice president, league president. Well, you get the idea. I loved it.

I was heavily involved in my both of my son's baseball programs when the City of Pleasanton came to us with an offer. There was a large parcel of land that had been given to the city with the proviso that it only be used for sports activities. Their proposal was that we could use a portion the land to build baseball fields. But, we, the League had to pay for building the fields.  As you can imagine, a LOT of money was involved.

In spite of the difficulties involved we decided to move ahead. A year, or so, later we had raised enough money, through donations, to move ahead with phase 1 - clearing the land. Work progressed at a snails pace as the dad's spent our Saturdays and Sundays "toiling in the fields". And then one night I got a telephone call. From a guy named John Madden. At that time I'd only met him once. At one of his wife's fund raisers. He said that he'd heard about the Little League fields being built and wanted to know if there was anything he could help. I told him that the cost was quite a bit and anything he could contribute would be greatly appreciated. He asked me how much money the total was. I gave him our estimate. And he agreed to pay for the whole thing. That's the John Madden I remember.......Doug

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱
Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!

Indeed, one of his favorites. I'll never know a dude from the north learned about "dressing".

Turkey and dressing!  What else is there?  Stuffing is for pillows!

That's what I think too. So why do all those Yankees up north keep calling it stuffing?

'Cause one stuffs into the turkey's gut cavity? That's more sensible than "dressing" the which suggests clothes for the outside of the bird... 🤣
