TFDi MD-11 Dev end of year update

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

I see TFDi posted a dev update on their upcoming MD-11 on Wed this week.

While there's till some way to go, I can see the team have made some good progress with bringing this aircraft to life.No mention of a release date yet.

Of particular note was the announcement of pricing (~90 USD) and that it will be interestingly available as a base pack with two flavours thus allowing the user to choose whether the base is a passenger or freighter based variant. And from there you can elect the other as an expansion pack.

This seems like a very good approach to me and I would probably elect to go with the freighter variant.

I'm definitely looking forward to flying the three-holer in P3D!

Cheers and Happy New Year! 🍾

Nice to see texture work on the flight-deck has started, already looking very nice.

Look forward to picking it up when it comes out!

I have been following this project for a while now.  I found the recent update to be welcome news as the project seems further along than I was expecting.  Very excited to pick it up.

One of the primary reasons I still have FSX installed on my secondary sim machine is the PMDG MD-11F.  Looking forward to getting the three-holer flying in P3D.

I know guessing a release date almost always results in disappointment in this hobby.  Yet I can't help myself.  Do you guys think it's reasonable by summer we will see this released?

Will be an insta-buy for me. I really like the 717 and have been waiting for this. Very happy to see P3D is not dead as far as the TFDI developers are concerned. Hope it will be a big commercial success to prove that the user base is still there.

I think that's a reasonable guess Dave.😉

I looked back and the original announcement from TFDi about the P3D version was back in May of 2020, so a development of approx 2 years would seem reasonable to me, although it looks like there is co-development of the MSFS version as well, so I am not sure if that will slow things down or not.

I think TFDI have said they're aspiring to a simultaneous release, but that if the MSFS version does get bogged down they won't deprive us of a working P3D version if that is ready to ship. So I'm relatively confident we'll at least get the P3D base version within the year.

If that's the plan, I like it! 👍
