Built to order cars...

Featured Replies

This isn't a new concept.

When I was a young man you could order a car with everything you wanted on it (which wasn't much at the time).  Then you would take the train to Detroit and walk down the assembly line and watch your car being built.  Then you would drive it back home.  I knew a couple of families when I was in high school who did just that.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

I only had the plain wheels on the MGB in my youth, instead of the bespoke wheels.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

I think you can still order a car with the options and color you want to some extent, but I wouldn’t want to go to the factory to see it being built 😂😂😂

Porsche lets you watch you your car being built remotely.  They have a camera that follows your car on the assembly line and they can send you a tape or CD of it.
