January 9, 20224 yr I know there are a few train sim fans on here wondering if anyone has tried RAILROADS Online yet??? I have been playing it for the last few weeks and think this is the best train sim to date. It is still in Beta but the developer is updating it regularly. Best was I can describe it is kind of like the Farm Sim meeting up with Train Sim. It is an open world based in the late 1800's early 1900s, no tracks so it is up to you to link up the industries and survey the land, you start with a simple engine and small yard and go from there. It is better then any previous train sim because you interact with the entire world around you, not just the trains, and it is unlimited in what you can do with laying tracks so lots of creativity, also online based so it has an emerging community coming out of this that is supporting its development, it doesn't have any manuals yet because it is Beta therefore you have to figure it out for yourself or the community for support. Because of this many people are taking different approaches on their train layouts. I am having a blast with this wondering of any else is as well Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
January 9, 20224 yr Things like this just remind me how inexplicably awful Dovetails programmers seem to be. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. January 9, 20224 yr Author 100% agree, this one is a fresh idea it seems the developer (Stefan Kelnberger) isn't looking at other platforms from the past, this is something he is developing himself, it feels like a labor of love from a one man operation, which I like Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
January 9, 20224 yr I used Trainz a few years ago and liked the build it yourself tools, but like Flight Sim most users want realistic based on real routes. Raymond Fry.
January 9, 20224 yr Let me know when something like MSTS comes along. A basic train simulator with lots of freeware rolling stock and locomotives and scenery to enhance the payware routes that were magnificent. I have Dovetail on Steam and put off by the point system and all the hoops you have t jump through just to get started and the levels of 'expertise'. I tried it a couple o times and gave it up. I wish there were a way to get MSTS working in Windows 10. MSTS was the best trainsim ever. Both old and contemporary routes. One of my favorites was the narrow gauge route that lft Denver went up Chatfield canyon. They had a lot of narrow gauge routes up in Southpark too. And routes like the old California Zephyr in the feather river and the City of San Francisco over Donner Pass. There were literally hundreds of freeware routes all over the United States and the rest of the world. I have Windows 7 disks and am tempted to have my local computer guru come and install it for me just so I can get MSTS back. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
January 10, 20224 yr When MS pulled Flight sim from DTG they gave them MSTS to develop for XBOX. Raymond Fry.
