May 8, 200719 yr me, and I know at least one other who tried to install it on his vista x64, but could not get it to work.Luckily, I can dual boot to XP, but would prefer a 64 bit version...Tileproxy is the first addon that lets me boot back to XP. Jan
May 9, 200719 yr I have compiled a 64 bit binary of tileproxy.sys.I am not very hopeful that it will work, but give it a shot. Place it in the TileProxy folder. It will be installed every time you start tileproxy from the start menu.Of course I wouldn't know if the tileproxy.inf file has to be modified to accomodate for the 64 bit version.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/171426.zipTry this and please report success or failure.
May 9, 200719 yr Hi Christian, it works !Only a few problems due to Vista x64 :- UAC has to be disabled and you need administrator rights- one need to disable the required signed drivers during boot (press F8 during boot, it is one of the choices on the bottom)First point you already mentioned, but there are always people who don't read the manual :-) .I don't know if you can do something about the second point. Maybe someone of the ACEs can help out ?I get a lot of : tileproxy.sys: PostQueryInformation() was unsuccessful asking for: tileproxy.sys: FileAllInformation tileproxy.sys: FileBasicInformation?but I am currently flying around Bastia, Corse, GE version ...thanks for sharing this amazing tool !Jan
May 9, 200719 yr >>- one need to disable the required signed drivers during boot>Hi Jan,Which drivers need to be disabled?George
May 9, 200719 yr >>- one need to disable the required signed drivers during>boot>Which drivers need to be disabled?TileProxy itself is a driver - this poses a problem in Vista 64 because Vista 64 requires all drivers to be digitally signed. Since TileProxy is not a Windows-certified digitally signed package, it won't work out-of-the-box in Vista 64. Thankfully, Microsoft created an escape clause by pressing F8 during boot to disable this security feature.TileProxy uses this driver architecture to figure out which scenery files the simulation is demanding, then let TP "do it's thing" to get the scenery built. Vista 64 requires signatures in order to ensure (to the best of their ability) that all drivers on a computer are known to be stable and proper - important to most proper 64-bit users who demand a higher standard of stability. -GG
May 9, 200719 yr I found a small problem : I could not unload the filter driver.Of course, this is not important.Yes, GG is right, you do not need to disable a driver, but disable the requirement of Vista x64 to have a signed drivers.Jan
May 9, 200719 yr Thanks GG and Jan. I think I will try TP on my 64bit Vista system, it is running very well on my XP system.George
May 10, 200719 yr Is the attachment still working ?I get a 404 error ...If somebody still has this file, plz attach it again to this thread. You can sign your own driver for Vista. Somewhere on MSDN was an article about that.---------------------------------------Freeware A380 Load Editor coming soon !
May 10, 200719 yr I found following on the web. Inside the rar are all the files needed to sign your own drivers. Have a look in the .inf for instructions (right click and open with notepad !). http://home.arcor.de/wrfan/files/Test.Certificate.rarAnd here is the tileproxy.sys again : http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/171490.zipAfter I signed the driver :- no more need to press F8 during boot- the strange query messages are gone. Tileproxy is behaving much more civilized.Jan
May 10, 200719 yr Can you compile a x64 sys for Windows XP or 2003 ?Seems this one is for Vista. On Windows 2003 I get this:Load failed with error: 0x800704fbThis driver has been blocked from loading---------------------------------------Freeware A380 Load Editor coming soon !

Have installed many video drivers that were not signed, as well as platform drivers, etc. I get a dialog box asking if I want to install the unsigned drivers at my own risk.
May 10, 200719 yr My understanding is that you need to have signed drivers for windows x64.I think you are referring to Microsoft certified drivers. In that case, you can indeed choose to install uncertified drivers "at your own risk".There is a difference between the two.Tileproxy.sys will not load under Vista x64 if you do not sign them yourself (see one of my previous posts) or if you do not disable the checking before booting into windows. (there is a third option, but I consider that one dangerous, as it had me reinstall Vista twice. Of course each time my own fault).Jan
