January 28, 20224 yr Hi, Plane on an M1 Mac 16 gig. What is a good yoke to get that has all the stuff you would find on a real plane like trim and everything??? I am going to use X on a 24 inch monitor. Thanks for info.
February 5, 20224 yr There is no standard as to what buttons 'n' stuff is on a yoke. Even in real world aircraft, some yoke have no buttons at all while others have quite a compliment of buttons. Not as many as modern car steering wheels though. The cheap(ish) yokes usually have enough buttons but they all have one big issue: the shaft sticks when you operate the yoke with one hand. Since you often fly with one hand on the yoke, the other on the throttles during landing that becomes a nuisance. If you're on a budget, I recommend the Honeycomb Alpha yoke. If you have a bit more to spend I can recommend the Fulcrum One yoke I am using myself. It is all metal and sturdy and precise. Joysticks often have more buttons available then a yoke, and some real world airliners, like the A320 series, and GA aircraft like the SR22 Cirrus, and of course many military aircraft, use joystick controllers instead of a yoke. So using a joystick is quite common. Just something to consider if you can't find a yoke that meets your needs for one reason or another. Al Edited February 5, 20224 yr by ark

I don't have the Honeycomb yoke so I cannot tell you much about it except it is likely better than your Saitek or my former CH Products yoke. The yoke I am using is a Fulcrum One and I am very happy with it. It does not catch when used single handedly and it has twice the range in pitch compared to the Honeycomb and even more compared to the Saitek. It is more expensive than the Honeycomb but it will probably last a lifetime since it is all metal and uses hall sensors, What's more, service by the vendor is great and he has his own support forum here on Avsim. I do have the Honeycomb Bravo quadrant though so I can tell you something about the built quality of Honeycomb. It is not bad, but it is mostly plastic and not as sturdy as I would like. August 28, 20223 yr I was just looking last night at Fulcrum's yoke. It, and Yono's, for their price point which is obvious for study construction w/ HALL sensors, aren't overly generous with switch options, though Fulcrum is better than Yono. I'm scheming on Fulcrum's TQ which isn't for sale yet but looks promising. Because of low budget quality of my Saitek I avoid using the yoke for pitch control and end up using electric trim, so I wonder if I got a decent yoke like Fulcrum's if that would change how I end up using the yoke. Lot's of $$ and not quite sure for me it will be worth it. I'm also intrigued by TCA Boeing as I'm flying airliners exclusively. The combination of it and Fulcrum's upcoming TQ might be fabulous, except flying the occasional GA plane might be too weird w/ the TCA Boeing. I had a Saitek yoke for many years, and switched to the Fulcrum shortly after it came out. I highly recommend the Fulcrum. It is extremely well made IMO, has considerably more pitch travel then the Saitek which provides excellent control when landing, is a metal yoke which helps provide a realistic feel, and support from Chris at Fulcrum is outstanding.
