Does the gate marshal poorly align your parking position?

Featured Replies

This worked fine for a long time for me but over the past many months usually it's directing me well right of where the stopping position is supposed to be relative to the marshal's position, and markings, and jetway as appropriate.  Since day one the plane never flies on the magenta line, and by golly it always did in FSX/P3D, and sometimes I'm a half mile off that track, and this IS NOT from offsetting wind vectors near as I can tell.  This means VNAV auto descend at ToD does not work in the 787-X which is mostly all I'm flying these days.

Sounds like you have some issues with your installation. I fly 4 different aircraft, with three different GPS systems, and all of them track the magenta line perfectly.

Thanks!  This is great news there must be a cure!  I've done the initial install, and 2 reinstalls, all flawless...and all do the same thing.  Are the marshals directing you in properly aligned if you're taxiing to gate?  can't see how it can be anything to do w/ the 'install' per se as I just do the automated installations to default file locations.  Is it perhaps a setting somewhere in the planes I'm using (true v magnetic north for example) or something that uniformly messes w/ my alignment?  Apparently it's not common, this misalignment issues as I've brought it up before and I think head scratching may commence because few have said they see this.

I don’t think it’s related but it’s recommended to install it in a location other than the default. Incase future updates or betas come along that might affect your files.

Regarding marshals it might be airport related and how well aligned everything is to the underlaying taxiway network.

I think we are talking about two different things. I was referring to your comment about following the magenta line. I don't use the marshallers for parking, I use PF3 for ATC which assigns parking spot.

I know Bob, I just didn't know if you used the marshals, so asked.

Very good news!  This legacy issue for me (not flying on the magenta line) began on Day 1 and has persisted.  I remembered how this might happen because, as you recall I did not have a hardware rudder at the time.  So I had enabled 'AUTO-RUDDER' when I first installed MSFS.  I did install hardware for a rudder and forgot to disable AUTO-RUDDER!  So all good now, all these many months later!

Cheers

Thanks, yep not related to which folder the sim was installed into.  I think it's solved now but won't know until I land at KIAD...

Parking spots in MSFS are often ridiculously crooked, angled so far off of the lead-in lines that are drawn. Opening airports in ADE for MSFS shows that many were super rush jobs just to get spots added.
