May 20, 200719 yr Does running the FSX installation CD repair function negate the SP1 patch? If so, this provision becomes worthless as a clean install would be mandatory before reinstalling SP1. Thanks:RTH
May 20, 200719 yr I can't imagine that SP1 would still be installed after running "Repair" from the DVD. The whole purpose is to check file versions/datas against the files on the DVD, and if their different in anyway, re-copy them to the drive.A repair process however, might save you from having to uninstall, re-install and re-register the base FSX installation. Only having to apply SP1 after a successful repair job. Regards, Al Jordan | KCAE

Personally, I'd simply follow the method ACES designed.1) Put FSX DVD#1 in the drive.2) Use Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add Remove Programs, to Uninstall FSX SP1.3) Done. Now wasn't that fun! ;) Fr. May 21, 200719 yr Author Sorry, but you misunderstood my question.It is not how to uninstall SP1.It is what is the effect on SP1 if FSX is repaired? In order for SP1 to be installed and effective, must FSX be again have a clean house and be reinstall, then Sp1 installed? My feeling and that of others from other reples seems to be yes! Time to start over. Hope it still works without a hassel. This will be my fourth reinstallation.Thanks for the reply:RTH
May 21, 200719 yr The chances are high, that the FSX repair option replace SP1 files. Run the SP1 installer afterwards again and it should be fine.Heiko Cheers Heiko i920 D0 @ 4.2 Ghz water cooled | 200x21 | Gigabyte X58A-UD3R | G.Skill 6GB F3-16000CL9 @ 2000 MHz 9-9-9-24 1T (1.60v) | 2x Intel X25-M G2 160 GB SSD, 2x Raptor 150, 1x WD 2500 KS 16 MB S-ATA2 | Tagan 1100 | EVGA GTX 480 Hydro Copper FTW @ 865/1729/2000 -> 59 C | 24" Benq FP241 6ms LCD @ 1920x1200x32, 2 x 19" Samsung 970P 6ms LCD @ 1280x1024x32 | Sound - Xonar Essence ST, Fatality HS-1000 headset | Saitek X52 Pro | Win7 Ultimate 64 | SuperPi 1M - 9.6 sec
May 21, 200719 yr If you are pulling files off the CD then ye you would be undoubtedly negating SP1 since you risk overwriting SP1 files. Regards, Max (YSSY) i7-12700K | Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB 3600MHz DDR4 | Gigabyte RTX4090 24Gb | Gigabyte Z690 AORUS ELITE DDR4 | Corsair HX1200 PSU
May 21, 200719 yr Moderator >Sorry, but you misunderstood my question.>>It is not how to uninstall SP1.No, I did not misunderstand the question. If you wish to revert to the RTM version, "Uninstalling" SP1 with DVD#1 in the drive is the correct procedure to follow.The "Uninstaller" for SP1 will replace the files modified by SP1 with the original files retrieved from DVD#1...Hence, the "Repair" option is redundant in such a case, since the files have already been "repaired..." ;)After this process is completed, run the SP1 patch installer again. May 22, 200719 yr Author Yes you did.I had no interest in "uninstalling SP1". In fact that is what I wished that I could have retained. Neither did I really have any desire to "revert to the RTM version", but simply to repair an error in FSX startup. As it turned out, I had a graphic problem that negated startup of FSX (and FS9). When I corrected that, I found that both FS programs were not at fault and worked flawlessly.Thanks for answering my question somewhat through the back door. I hoped that would not be the case, but strongly suspected pretty much exactly what you said. Thanks for the confirmation.Pretty academic at this point. I have done another clean installation of FSX, and reinstalled SP1 along with my addons.Thanks:RTH
