SPEAKERs and HEADPHONE SOUND requires resetting each Start

Featured Replies

Hi Fellow MSFS Simmers,

I'm having trouble with my MSFS holding my preset sounds for Headphones and external 5.1 Sounds.

Each time I turn on the Simulator, I have to go into the sound folder and resave my Headphone Microphone sound and my external surround sound.

If I don't  do this then I have all sound emulating from my external speakers.

Prior to the last update we didn't have this option.

I play MSFS "ATC" through headphones and of course use the attached mike for Multi Crew experience to correspond, using the 5.1 external speakers for all external sounds, ie aircraft sounds, ATC Chatter program, storms etc.

I cant seem to just set it and it is right to go next time, I turn on the Simulator.

Any Ideas?

Regards Brian

I don’t think MSFS sound settings are altogether working properly right now. The last SU had issues with the beta which was supposedly fixed in the final release. However, I have found that if I have my 5.1 USB headphones plugged into the PC, even if I am not using them, and playing all sounds thru the speakers, there is a huge FPS drop in the sim. Unplugging them fixes it.

I know this is not your issue, my point is that MSFS seems to need some work when it comes to sound options. It is likely a bug and not your setup.

Cheers, Thanks Greg,

Yes since the last SU I've had issues, up until then they all worked well together, with ATC through the Headphones and all other sounds through the surround Sound.

There was No setting in the Sim, just in the Windows Control Panel?

But thanks.

This happens to me too. It’s a new bug introduced in SU8.

Thanks, for a while I thought it was my system.

Same problem.

You're not alone, but we seem not to be so many affected by this whereas many users have a headset and may have a similar setup.

I've post a bug report on the msfs forum. No solution so far.
