Upgrade from Rift CV1 to Quest 2 ... worth it?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

As above, I am about to pull the trigger on ordering a new Quest 2 to replace my faithful early model Rift CV1. The question is, is it going to be noticeably better image quality wise? I'm pretty sure my PC is plenty capable.

Has anyone else done this upgrade? Should I hold out for any other HMD's which are going to be launched?

Thanks all and happy flying!

Chris.

Absolutely, positively yes.  I just did the same thing. I’ve been flying with old faithful CV1 for years.  I bought a ‘link” USB cable for the Q2, and I was surprised at how much better everything looks. Fantastic visual & much higher resolution.   Im still tweaking performance, but its already very good.

How is the connection with the PC? Can I actually use it wireless or is that meh?

Hi can you post your settings in VR?  I see people say "fantastic visuals".  I have it nice and smooth but would not say visuals are "fantastic?"    Up High  yes, but low down distance tends to shimmer  am using a 3080.  I am sure i am doing something wrong somewhere , just wish someone could say what?
