March 27, 20224 yr Hi, I did a flight with the new VNAV function. During the descent, the auto trust mode is swapping repeatedly from Idle to Speed due to how vnav is coded I think. As a consequence the copilot is repeatedly calling”thrust idle” “speed” “thrust idle “ “speed “ etc That is quite annoying to say 😉 I suppose I can switch off FMA callout in the FS2CREW setting but then I will post all lateral and vertical call out also. Therefore I kindly ask if it is possible to have an option to choose which FMA callout are called, or at least an option to cancel autothrust callouts alone. Best regards, Pierre
March 27, 20224 yr Commercial Member Hi Pierre, That would be a very long list of options 😉 Technically, the crew should call out of FMA change, and that's what FS2Crew does. My suggestion is to turn off the FMA callouts if it's an issue for you until FBW updates their VNAV handling. The modes shouldn't jump back and forth like that. Edited March 27, 20224 yr by byork B. March 27, 20224 yr It's great to have this option of turning off the normal FMA changes, many well-established airlines with experience in equipment will not call normal FMA's changes, will make only calls for abnormal under their SOPs. Unfortunately, new airlines overwhelm their pilots with all kinds of unnecessary calls even for normal changes creating an unnecessary workload. I witnessed a situation where we had a "quiet cockpit" environment and called only abnormals, suddenly new regime change in the training department required us to call all the FMA changes (normal and abnormal). It didn't work too well, after 2 months the new "guy" in the training department was let go and the airline went to normal and no more problems. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.
March 28, 20224 yr Commercial Member Well, we do have the option to turn off the FMA calls in button control on the Settings panel. So user can play them if they wish. I'm sure FBW will improve their VNAV handling to deal with this situation. B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
