KATL: No.1 in the world for passenger traffic in 2021

Featured Replies

The Association Airports Council International has communicated that Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport is the apt which, with approximately 75.7 million passengers, recorded the highest traffic in the world.

US airports dominated the passenger traffic rankings in 2021, with eight of the top 10 in the United States.

Dallas / Fort Worth International Airport in Texas was the second-busiest in 2021, with about 62.5 million passengers, and the international airport in Denver, Colorado, ranked third, with 58.8 million passengers.

Rats! My tout advised me to bet on Pyongyang ZKBY to be ranked #1 busiest. Apparently the Dear Leader had been exaggerating Zickbee's traffic numbers. Oh well, I can't win them all.

Pretty fascinating. I only transited there once in the 90's, and I think it was the busiest then. I loved it.

Dallas, LA, Houston, Bay Area, NYC, Chicago all have a few major airports each, not sure about Atlanta, or how much that disperses passenger numbers.

Ah, ok, there's a list for almost everything

London had the biggest city airport system in 2019. And I guess Guangzhou was briefly the single busiest airport overall in 2020.

Yeah, Pyongyang, hmmm I wonder. If you designate some hangar on the other side of the field as another airport. Get a new ICAO designator for it. Fill an Antonov with passengers and tow the plane back and forth between the two terminals 24/7, could those "two" Pyongyang airports perhaps become the busiest?

It would be in the same way that their leader can shoot -28 during a single round of golf. 😉
