May 24, 200719 yr Has anyone else run across any missing rivers in FSX? Particularly, the Wabash river, which runs along the Illinois/Indiana border and empties into the Ohio River, is just plain not there, even with graphics cranked all the way up. Can someone verify this for me?
May 24, 200719 yr C'mon guys... I can't believe nobody has 10 minutes to hop into FSX and see if they have the Wabash River on their system. Anyone????
May 24, 200719 yr I'd be happy to check it, but I'm at work. Be patient, someone will get to it soon! Ken

Can someone verify this for me?Its there. However, it doesn't seem to all be there. From Evansville, headed west and saw it easily. Followed it north a while, before it ending just south of Vincennes. I'm not very familiar with that part of the country, but I'm almost certain it goes up to Terre Haute and beyond. But not in FSX.

But not in>FSX.Hmm... that's consistent with mine then. KHUF, in Terre Haute, is my home field. I fly west and it's not there. I'll have to take a flight south and see if I find it near Vincennes. I find this to be ridiculous though. The Wabash has been there since FS98. How can MS drop the ball like this? I've seen some reports of other missing rivers too.
May 25, 200719 yr The river is there but it changes into a stream just east of Allendale. This is consistent with the data displayed in Google Earth. See the screengrabs below.Google Earthhttp://i18.tinypic.com/4zwjyvr.jpgFSXhttp://i16.tinypic.com/66jldw5.jpgIn the FSX screengrab, the river ends in the bottom-left of the screen and changes into a stream which you can make out below the Baron. This screengrab was taken in the same area shown in the Google Earth image above. Both FSX and Google Earth use the same data source for waterways. It looks as though the transition from river to stream could use some work though.
May 25, 200719 yr The Mohawk River in upstate NY is the same way. From where it empties into the Hudson, you can follow it west to about Amsterdam, NY. Then it abruptly changes into a tiny stream, barely visible. At least in FS9 it went as far west as Fonda, NY. One of the reasons I'm axiously awaiting Ultimate Terrain for FSX.Jim
May 25, 200719 yr >One of the reasons I'm axiously awaiting Ultimate Terrain for FSX.Me too. It's one of the few add-ons I have absolutely no hesitation about buying given how much it improved the look and feel of FS9.
May 25, 200719 yr Author Why would you ask if MS dropped the ball on this? They didn't develop the water or roads data. And, no, I don't think that they have the bandwidth to check everything a vendor does for them.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
May 25, 200719 yr Personally, when I find something is amiss with a place I know, thats when I start up a new project. In North Carolina, Oregon Inlet is missing in the Outer Banks. So for the last two months, I've been reworking everything from Corolla to Ocracoke. If I ever finish that, I'm moving on to Pensacola (the area around the naval air station is just all wrong). Then on to Pittsburgh (no sports stadiums (though in FS2k2 and before there were!) and one of the tunnels is depicted as a very steep road). Don't like how something looks? Download FSX_KML and Google Earth and step up to the plate. Obviously this isn't a course of action for everyone, but I sure have fun with it.
May 25, 200719 yr I also seems the data source Google Earth and FSX use could stand revision. The Wabash is far more than a stream. It's a quarter mile wide as you cross it on I-70 driving in to Terre Haute.
May 25, 200719 yr Is FSX KML hard to use? My coding/tweaking skills go about as far as Doom map editing.
