Dumb question maybe

Recommended Posts

I've recently bought Steve's DX10 Fixer (v5.4 Build 156) for FSX (disc version with SP2).

I'm just wondering if it automatically runs in the background without any prompt from me at FSX startup? Anything I need to do?

Secondly, I'm a bit confused about the User  Preferences box "Check for FSX running on  Startup". Do I need that to be ticked or not? I know it's in the manual but it's not clear.

Thanks!!

Just check "YES" on FSX startup - that box appears every time now...

If you have DX10 checked in FSX display options, it will run  in the background...  You may have to tweak the fixer a few times though. But close FSX for any DX10 adjustments.

I do have DX10 checked in FSX display options. So I've now ticked that box in DX10 Fixer now.

Thank you very much for your reply.

The fixer runtime code runs automatically with fsx.

The fixer front end  is only ever run to alter settings.

There are a few operations from the front end that will fail if fsx is running, as fsx will have locked the files.

By default the front end checks if fsx is running and refuses to run if it is to avoid these seeming to be a problem.

it is possible to disable the fsx running check which is occasionally useful if providing support.
