My concern re XP12 is performance. Has the code been optimised?

Vulkan XP11 was better than MSFS in my opinion in terms of smoothness. So, if they’ve optimised XP12 in terms of AA and clouds, then it can only be positive.

According to the last blog post x-plane 12 will have MSAA & FSR, great news for FPS.

What is MSAA and FSR?

Now x-plane uses SSAA, which means X times the native resolution, meaning that 4X SSAA on a 1K monitor means a 4K load for the GPU, even worse, since just native 4K is more efficient than 4X SSAA on a 1K monitor.

MSAA is another method for AA, which yields pretty much the same quality as SSAA but with much less FPS cost.

FSR is an upscaling method, so x-plane can render stuff at lower resolution (more FPS) and then FSR will upscale it back. There are typically multiple modes for FSR, it remains to be seen how it'll be quality VS fps.

OK and thank you. I'm just more worried about ai planes, reflections, clouds, shadows..... Vulkan helped but not nearly enough.
