May 13, 20224 yr HI all. Don't know if I'm just unlucky but I've had quite a few problems with msfs 2020. My present problem, which I am sure one of you knowledgeable guys might be familiar with is that since I did the recent upgrade for msfs every time I fire up the computer I get error messages. Two are the same and they say "OmenCommandCenterBackground.exe - Application Error. Application Started Incorrectly (0xc0000135)". The third one says "Yolk_Profiler.exe - Application Error. The Application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000135) I'm running an Omen computer BTW . If you can help me with this one I'll tell you why I spent 6 hours on the telephone talking to Cairo and Nigeria about msfs problems! Thanks in advance. May 13, 20224 yr Moderator @Fredav, welcome to AvSim. I’ve moved your post to the MSFS forum and changed the post title to something more appropriate. Ray (Cheshire, England). May 13, 20224 yr Well. Title is still vague 🙂 but to make this more concrete: 1. msfs installed fine and also runs fine. That what I understand? 2. your omen gives you nonetheless the 3 error messages but does not restart or CTD? Since that would mean you don’t necessarily have an issue with MSFS let’s try to help anyway. I am not familiar with Omen PCs but try disable /exit the Omencommandcenter.exe. I would expect that’s just some piece of SW running in the background for updates etc? Like other vendor’s control centers. Maybe you can disable autostart for that? on the yolk I am lost but maybe some more knowledgeable chicks are around here 🙂 . Seriously, is that for some HW? Or this —> https://packagist.org/packages/gamernetwork/yolk-profiler sorry then, lost with that but maybe someone else can chime in Edited May 13, 20224 yr by DAD Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"

Microsoft messed up the the setup and it uninstalls .NET 3.5 on some systems - run the Windows Features app and make sure .NET 3.5 is checked off.
May 13, 20224 yr You can also try uninstalling the HP Omen command center from Control Panel\Programs and Features and then installing again. It may even have a repair option.
May 13, 20224 yr Author Thanks to all for the various suggestions. Will give them a try. I did try the MS repair facility but it was beyond it's capabilities. BTW my allusion to 6 hours of phone calls was due to the fact that my system is running a ssd 250gb and a 1tb hdd. The msfs had been loaded onto the ssd for speed etc. but due to the size of the sim I ended up with 9gb left and an upgrade to install that would have overrun that. So being a bit nieve I thought perhaps I can get all the fs stuff transferred from the ssd (drive C) to the hdd (drive D) so I contacted ms and was patched through to Cairo. The guy I spoke to said it would be tricky but could be done and he started off at 5.30 our time. After almost 2 hours and having given him control of my pc he said job done. Sure enough it seemed ok. But next day I tried it and I couldn't get the fs to work at all. However he had given me a job number and said to quote that and I would be put through straight to him. I tried that and ended up speaking to a young lady in Nigeria. We went through the whole procedure again (2 hours of it) and she said it's ok now, and it was, it worked like a dream. Fs here I come. Guess what, next day back to square one. To cut a long story short I got back to ms then Nigeria again (different lady) and we did another 2 hours torture. Anyway, since then it has worked but only if I start windows, then without doing anything else I restart windows it works. But if I try to start msfs without doing a restart first it's no go. Hope I haven't bored you too much with my tale of woe but it makes you wonder how these things work.
May 13, 20224 yr Howdy Fredav. I wouldn't be comfortable giving anyone remote access to my computer - it's hard to tell whether someone actually works for MS, or is pretending to work for them. At the same time, I can understand your frustration and desire to get things back to normal. Sometimes, the best thing to do is start over - reinstall Windows, then install MSFS again. You'll wind up freeing up enough space on your C drive to make room for MSFS this way. This will also have the benefit of wiping out any changes made to your machine by those remote folks - who knows what they did or what else they might have installed. Just make sure to copy any important documents or other files you'd like to save first to cloud account like dropbox or google drive. Worst case, you can email yourself some files as attachments if you don't have a ton that you'd like to save. The Omen is made by HP - you might try calling HP tech support (only use a phone number published by HP directly) and see if they can help you either reinstall Windows or restore it to its factory state. Often times, vendors like Dell and HP will have a system restore image on the drive that will work even when everything else doesn't. They usually have a utility that will restore the "factory fresh" drive image - tech support should be able to help you locate it. Finally - do you have any neighbors or family nerdy family members that can help? Those are the only people I would trust to log into your machine and make changes. Edited May 13, 20224 yr by enright
May 13, 20224 yr my experience with hp was a onetime one, these come with a ton of bloatware usually, best is to uninstall all that stuff. their laserprinters are great tho. Edited May 13, 20224 yr by wim123
May 13, 20224 yr Author May try that HP suggestion. I have a link to HP solutions, might be something there. Thanks everyone
May 13, 20224 yr 5 hours ago, Fredav said: did try the MS repair facility Why? I thought MSFS is actually running well but just the other 3 programs spit out errors? Then better try to fix those. And yes, call HP via a published number. No offense to MS support working in remote and fancy regions but I would also be hesitant to give anybody access to my PC whom I did not contact through an official local MS phone number. My dad was actually called twice already by people pretending to work for MS and telling him they needed remote access to his PC to fix some issues. Luckily even he smelled something fishy and hang up on them. good luck.
