Fenix. Need help with controls

Featured Replies

Trying to fly the Fenix A320 and I am having some issues with the bindings in the control setup. I have both the Thrusstmaster TCA Quadrant Edition (Eng 1&2 unit), and the Thrustmaster A320 Pilot Stick.
Firstly I cannot get the Reverse Thrust to work on the TM Quadrant, even though it works on the A320 Pilot Stick.
Flaps do not work on the Quadrant. You have to click them with a mouse. And Finally, the speed breake seem to work with the mouse, as well as on the Quadrant, but not seen visually when observing outside the aircraft.
So I am pleading for some help with all of the above. Thanks in advance.

Don't forget to set all throttle sensitivities of the quadrant to zero, only reactivity should be set to 100. I bought this stick and quadrant yesterday and it took me about two hours to find out that I had to set these sensitivities to 0 in the calibration options of MSFS2020 🙂

You should program some buttons on the stick for flap settings, not on the quadrant

No. You can calibrate the Flaps lever within the MCDU of the Fenix.

Not talking about calibrating here, but about assigning the flaps to buttons on the stick. As flap levers don't come with the standard Thrusstmaster TCA Quadrant Edition (Eng 1&2 unit) you can, if you want to, assign flap settings (increase and decrease flaps) to buttons as said.

I should have said that besides the throttle quadrant, I have the added Speed Brake on the left of the throttles, and the flap leaver on the right side.

Yes the flaps are already on the Flight stick. (Default). So I will view the video thanks to Mikethe6th.

Farlis can you please post the steps to operate the flaps in the MCDU ?  Very new to this but keen to learn !!

Are you saying that Sensiivity Plus, Sensiivity Minus, Dead Zone, Neutal, Extream Dead Zone, should all be set to zero ??

That gives me a horizontal straight line ?

Yes, all of them apart from reactivity which should be set to 100. That's how I got it to work. Fenix also recommend this at their Discord Support.

Hi Farlis

I have spent countless hours trying to calculate the throttles. I've had a real gutful, and am in need of some alcohol.

Watched a few youtube videos on calibrating the throttles in MCDU, and have spent literally all afternoon without success.

Still not clear whether you calibrate the throttles inside the sim, or my own physical throttles, or both ?

So after trying to calibrating the throttles all afternoon (and with YT videos I followed it step by step) I always end up with my physical throttles at the Idle position, but with the sim still in Rev Idle (with the tabs up). I am stumped !!🙁

In addition, I followed the FLAP video to the letter, Easy. My flaps were calibrated as UP, 2 3 4. Store calibration. Yet in the sim, the flap leaver does not go further than the first position. Maybe time to go Boeing ☹️

From the Fenix Knowledge Base:

TCA Throttle is not able to be calibrated.

In this article, we go over a potential bug you may find during TCA throttle calibration.

If you have a joystick or another other devices with a sliding axis, ensure that they do NOT have a throttle axis assigned to any sliders. The ONLY device that should have a throttle axis is your TCA Throttle Quadrant.

If your TCA Flap handle does not respond correct, visit: https://kb.fenixsim.com/flaps-are-unresponsive-/-flaps-calibration

One of our testers recently found that they were unable to calibrate their TCA throttle, detailing that the throttle was on 00:00% the whole time during the calibration menu.

Even following a complete re-install of the sim, the TCA throttle wasn't being recognized by the calibration menu. The default TCA profile essentially did not work.

The fix to this issue is quick and painless.

Our tester found that there are two throttle 1 axes...

One marked throttle 1 axis.

One marked throttle 1 axis (0-100%) within the calibration tool.

The image below, while showing 2 different axes, will reflect the different names for the throttle calibration.

FlightSimulator_LgKAoYukAL.png

If you use the default calibration, which is the (0-100%) calibration, the sim will not recognize it. To fix this issue, simply clear the calibration, search for "throttle 1 axis" within the calibration menu and assign it to the relevant joystick axis.

You may need to set the Axis up manually - as sometimes these units like to pretend they're buttons. The assignments are as follows for the TCA:

Throttle 1 Axis - Joystick L-Axis X

Throttle 2 Axis - Joystick L Axis Y

Please ensure your throttle axis sensitivity is set correctly. You should set all settings to 0%, excluding reactivity, which should be 100%. We recommend you set this before going through throttle calibration.

throttle sensitivity

Once you have completed the above, we'd recommend running the Fenix throttle calibration via the MCDU MENU > CONFIG > CONTROL CONFIG
