Cessna 414 with pink engines

Featured Replies

My C414's with FW PMS GTN750 show pink engines.

No problems with the standard GNS530.

Is there an mod known to correct this problem?

It is not clear to me what you mean. Are the nacelles completely colored pink, or do the engines seem to be glowing pink at night, or what?  Would be good if you could post a screen shot here.

I'm not aware of anyone else with this issue, so it would seem to be something going on with your setup. I've not heard of any mod for pink engines. Sounds like a texture problem.

Have you installed the latest Beta version of the C414, ver 2.3? If so, maybe worth trying a reinstall.

Thanks for your responses! Unfortunately the onedrive link is not working for me.

The 2 engines/motors/engine blocks inside the motor casing driving the nacelles are in pink color, not texturing. Perhaps there is a texture missing or a reference to it or to a number of textures.

This pink motors are visible from front view but also from the cockpit through the cooler slots on top of the engine casings.

No such problems with the aircraft paintings.

Below 2 links may show you the effect as jpgs

Thanks for the pics. At night you should see a red glow through the vents slots on top of the nacelles. However, why during the day the front of the engines look pink I have no idea. I just checked and I can not reproduce what you are seeing. Tomorrow I should be able to ask Mark, the developer, what might be causing that pink color with your setup and I'll let you know what he says.

Is this a new problem that just occured with a recent update of the plane? Which reminds me, I will need to let Mark know what plane ver # you currently have installed. Let me know that and then I'll talk to Mark.

Hi

I have same pink engine textures and only with GTN750 models.

Thanks Al

I have v 2.3.0 installed and I don't seem to be the only one.

Yes it seems to be PMS GTN750 related, but isolated to FSW C414

I had that problem before v 2.3.0 but can't tell when it started.

OK, thanks all for the info. I will see what I can find out.

I assume you mean with both the TDS and PMS GTN750 models?

Hi

I don't know, with TDS never flying but with 530 models all textures ok.

I have talked with Mark at FSW and like me, he can not replicate the pink engine problem. However, today a new hotfix update is now out, ver 2.3.1, that addresses a number of different issues and also includes some texture updates. So after updating you might see if the pink engines problem has gone away or not.

Sorry to say no, even worse:pink engines are still there plus new the running props (not running=ok) show as pink/black checkerboard discs.

It sounds like you have some conflicts.

Sounds like you have some texture conflicts going on.

When the developer (which is not me) cannot reproduce the problem, and there are 1000s of users of the plane, and only a very few have a particular problem, the cause of the problem is usually something to do with the user's setup. So we need to try and figure out what that might be.

I would suggest:

1. Make sure you are using a default livery and not a third party paint which sometimes can cause problems.

2. After that, I'd check for addon conflicts by emptying my Community folder of all other addons. An easy way to do this is by renaming the Community folder to back it up, and then create a new Community folder and move just the C414 and the PMS50 GTN750 into it (copy and paste), and then restart the sim to see what happens. If all is now OK, then you have a conflict with one of your other addons.

BTW, make sure you have the latest version of the PMS GTN750 -- there have been a lot of updates.

Coincidentally, on the FSW Discord site today a user reported that after installing the latest C414 update that

"when I turn the engines on the props go turn into the "no texture" purple checkerboard, also my autopilot panel is just flashing all the LED's and wont activate any of the modes ".

I suggested that he might have a Community folder conflict and a short time later he responded saying

" ok that must have been it, I had a livery downloaded. disabled it and its working now."

My only point here is to demonstrate that as strange as it might seem, even having just an addon livery in the Community folder can cause all kinds of weird issues.

So when we do have problems, at some point in the debugging process it is at least worth checking to see if a Community folder conflict might be the cause.

Hi Al

Thanks for your helpful comments!

Did not think myself of a livery incompatibility, but removing all addon liveries is curing my C414 problem.

Will find the culprit!
