First flight in the 737

Featured Replies

Thought I'd actually try getting this off the ground by a bit of RTFMing. Tried a few times but nothing was working according to the instructions - starting the demo flight as per instrs but all the instruments turned off and the plane reversing slowly down the runway instead of sitting quiet with all the cockpit powered up. Nothing working on the FMC or anywhere else, click anywhere and nothing happening.

Tried uninstall/modify but that wasn't working either. Something obviously borked on my system. So ended up just re-running the installer over the top of the existing setup, then updating via the PMDG center, and lo and behold - all working now.

So as all the controls were apparently happy again I gave up on the demo flight and just pushed off for a manual flight. I'd pretty much given up on the thing and had just been putting it down to it being the dreaded "serious" aircraft combined with my lack of piloting knowledge. Been a bad installation all along. So as it looks like I won't actually need to learn all that fancy stuff to use this, I shall have a play in the coming days, and if I like it I might get the -600 as I do like a stubby tube (but hate the extended ones).

Just be grateful I don't fly multiplayer mode, or whatever it is that lets me mix with the rest of the world. At least you won't bump in to me (literally) anywhere out there.

Thanks folks! I feel I ought to photoshop up a picture of me in a captain's hat and my "danger to himself and others" t-shirt  - the official uniform of AYOR (At Your Own Risk) Air.
