Did he open the back cargo door to check on the broken landing gear and just fall out or jumped?  🪂  Oops!  Forgot the parachute! 😳

I fully agree with the probable reason for the young man to have fallen. Having to lie face down on that short, steep ramp to assess the starboard main gear was excessively dangerous!

Why wouldn't he just look out from the cockpit window? It seems to be able to be opened and it looks as if he could at least see that the wheel was missing.

Or go straight to the low pass over RDU, which he did anyway, and let the people on the ground assess the problem?

Either that guy fell out by accident trying to inspect the landing gear, or he totally panicked when he thought the airplane might be in a more serious crash: So he jumped?

Until the pilot tells his story there's no way to know for sure.

The pilot, according to this article, allegedly told the KRDU tower that his co-pilot 'jumped out' of plane before emergency landing.
