Engine won't start and no EFB

Featured Replies

I have flown C414AW a couple of times without issue. However, now I cannot get the engines started. I also tried to bring up the EFB. No matter where I click on the triangular window, there is just no EFB tablet to be seen. I am using the PMS50 GTN750 livery. Anyone, please help. Thank you

If you are using the latest ver of the C414, ver 2.9.0, the EFB now stores in the pocket by the pilot's left leg, and the click spot is the tablet's "camera" opening (lens) on the center of the top bezel (although anywhere close to that works for me). If that doesn't work then there is a conflict of some kind. If necessary, make sure you test with a default livery. The window is no longer an EFB click spot.

Once the EFB is open, there are click spots on the first page called Ready to Start and Start Engines. You need to hold the Start Engines click spot until both engines are running. Make sure there is fuel in the tanks.

If the Engines still won't start:

1. Make sure you only have one ver of the C414 in your Community folder, and the Win10 Program and Features shows only your latest 2.9.0 install. Some users had two ver of the plane installed because when FSW initially changed over to a new installer the new installer could not uninstall the previous version which it now does from here on. If you do have two C414 installs, use Program and Features to uninstall the old ver, then rerun the new installer which will first uninstall a possibly bad current ver, and then will reinstall the current version.

2. Make sure you are using a default livery at least for test purposes. Ver 2.9.0 required that some liveries be updated.

3. Make sure you have the latest version of the PMS50 GTN750.

4. If none of the above applies, you could try temporarily removing all addons from your Community folder to eliminate some weird conflict possibility.

A couple times my engines would not start which was surprising because I fly the 414AW every day with few problems.  Turned out that I started Dark and Cold at a remote parking ramp and the fuel levers for left and right tanks were set to OFF.  I had not seen that previously.  Now I see it happen occasionally when I choose a small GA ramp as my departure location.  No problem starting when I move the fuel levers to the correct tank/position.

Thank you both, problem solved. As I suspected, once I opened EFB, I quickly found the problem--empty tanks. Now I can start from cold and dark as I always did.
