User Config - post processing options.

Featured Replies

I've only just started playing around with the User Config file and trying different post processing options. My main reason for this was to disable color grading and eye adaptation. This works well but I wanted to see how disabling sharpening would impact the appearance as I always found the trees especially to be unnatural looking. While not perfect, I actually think things look a lot more natural - the trees appear softer than I was expecting but still better than their jagged appearance with sharpening turned on.

What are others thoughts on this and the other post processing changes? I'm firmly in the camp of wanting Asobo to deliver these as options in the UI now.

Of the post-processing options I've only turned sharpening and film grain off. Instead I use sharpening with reshade. But it's also possible to use e.g. nvidia geforce overlay. The advantage with these options is more granular control (slider vs. on/off).

I haven't tried changing the other values e.g. color grading. Do you notice any difference?

I read reports that eye adaptation setting does nothing but it is working for me so I don't get the outside clouds getting overblown when I have most of the cockpit in my view. I think the color grading option is more subtle - on a quick test it definitely appears a little less saturated which is what I was after. Because I changed it at the same time as the eye adaptation though, I'm not clear exactly how much of a difference it makes. I'll do more testing this weekend and take screenshots to compare.

@Donka   As yours Donka, but I also have shadows at either 4096 or 6144 (nice and sharp), and I turn off the horrible fringing effect also (happens in the hangar).

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Ha, yeah. I’m not sure who thought adding chromatic aberration was a good idea.  I guess if you pretend the hanger camera is using a cheap lens it’s ok <shrug>.

I also disabled film grain… again… why would I want this?!
