Hawker 850XP Bizjet on a short trip...

Featured Replies

[I have not flown this BizJet in a very long while, but I was reminded of it via an (all-black) livery of it by Matt L, that I came across today in the library. The a/c (see images below), carrying Reg. (VH-AFP), belongs to the Australian Federal Police.]

The Hawker 850XP is the final derivative of the world’s longest running corporate jet production program and the best-selling business jet of all the times – the British designed DH.125.

Conceived and developed more than 60 years ago by the de Havilland Aircraft Company, the twinjet, originally called DH.125, had entered production as (Hawker Siddeley) HS.125 in 1962. When Hawker Siddeley Aircraft merged with the British Aircraft Corporation to form British Aerospace in 1977, the name (HS.125) changed to BAe 125. In 1993, British Aerospace sold its Business Jets Division to Raytheon (which had already bought Beech Aircraft Corporation in 1980). Then, in 2007, Raytheon divested its aircraft manufacturing business to Hawker Beechcraft Corporation (Raytheon (respectfully) chose to carry forward the name "Hawker"...). Therefore, in the subsequent line of production, the "Props" were designated as "Beechcraft", and the "Jets" designated as "Hawker"...

So, through such a convoluted series of mergers and acquisitions, the original (de Havilland) DH.125 twinjet has continuously evolved and transformed over nearly half-a-century, to be eventually called Hawker 850XP.

850XP's astonishing performance, modern avionics, exceptional economy, and, last but not least, luxuriously appointed interior comforts (see shots, below), have made it the best-selling midsize business jet on the market. Please find, below, a collection of pictures of the Hawker 850XP, flying, here, on a short 300 nms trip, from the mainland Australia to the island of Tasmania, across the waters of Bass Strait, between YMML (Melbourne Airport) and YMLT (Launceston Airport / ILS Rwy 32L) ...in secretive Police business...🙂...

Hope you like these pictures of this remarkable BizJet, a leader in its class...!

Thanks for viewing...! Good flying...!!

Folks:

Many thanks for the comments on this Black Beauty...🙂...and yes, the ride was sweet...!!

Matt:

Appreciated you chiming in....here...yes, I noticed the news screen, by zooming in...🙂..., but...it didn't matter to enjoying the flight with this a/c and this livery.... (btw, another entirely fortuitous encounter with one of your repaints, but, when one does so many repaints of so many a/c, chances of accidental encounters rise rapidly too...) ...thanks again for the nice livery...
