Back in mid 90s when i was working for Air Research I was making a round trip flight from Denver to Los Angeles every two or three weeks.  My home was Pueblo Colorado where I was working on the LIMRV at the DOT test track.

But they had sent me to the Air Research plant in Torrance CA to work on a new linear induction motor they were testing for a Grumman test vehicle.  Since I was an experience LIM tech I was sent out there to help out.

I flew coach in a Continental DC-10 and always had a nice dinner on that flight each way.  A choice of steak or chicken with the trimmings and later pie or ice cream for dessert.  And a comfortable seat from which to dine.

Now you are a cow or a steer crowded in to take as less space as possible with meager rations of peanuts and coffee.

Although to be more or less fair i gotta say that the last time I flew, about three years ago, from Roswell to Charleston and back I sprung for first class and had pretty good food service, a comfortable seat, and an attentive flight attendant.

I guess that is now a distant memory from the 'olden days' that weren't that long ago.

I gotta learn to proofread my posts before sending them.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

Brings back memories of my flight from NY  JFK  to Los Angeles LAX in a 747sp [TWA]  coach. The food was  listed as a snack. That was no snack  More of a light meal. Between the meal, and adult beverage, i was  a happy camper. I miss you big time TWA.
