GSX, FSLTL, and 3rd Party Airports..Oh My!

From what I've understood, MSFS has a maximum number of objects that will render at any given time.  This is an ongoing issue regarding running GSX and FSLTL at the same time.  I have had textures disappear, objects disappear, airplanes disappear, and whole airports disappear (coming into New Orleans once, LatinVFR KMSY was wiped off the face of the Earth).

Now, on the GSX forums, Umberto just says "lower your settings", but I would like to know what specific tweaks some of you have made in the MSFS, GSX, and FSLTL settings to help alleviate this problem as much as possible.

Thanks!

Number one is lower the traffic settings. FSLTL claims that they don’t have an FPS issue but for me with an I7 -10700K and the RTX3090 it makes my sim crawl at DFW. That doesn’t happen with AIG models. So clearly they utilize more resources. So, limit the amount of traffic it puts out. Whether it’s the injector or if like me I had to drastically drop the settings in PSXT for the FSLTL models.

2nd LOD, if you fly out of big metro airports you’ll need to go down to 100 LOD.

Finally go to the a FlightSimulator blog and follow their steps for more performance.

I hope that helps!

I didn't think about turning down LOD.  I will try that.  Also, isn't there a setting in MSFS about ground traffic?  Do we turn that down to zero while running GSX?

Except gaining FPS, this wont help you anything, because the issue you describe is the sim hitting a hard limit of simobjects being loaded. If this is due to the vast amount of AI planes, ground services or just objects loaded on your 3rd party airport scenery, reducing the LOD even down to 50 wont change anything.

there is no "hard limit" in the Sim, it is more like a "soft limit", since the results are not always the same. At the moment we only solution seems to disable the servides per each aircraft and only keep pushback active to get the airplanes depart.
