Kodiak Bounced Landings

Featured Replies

So, using the wheels version of the SWS Kodiak. Controls are all calibrated, etc.. Have the latest version of the Kodiak. For some reason for every one good landing, I bounce down the runway with the next 5. I cannot get any consistency with landing this aircraft without bouncing back up into the air a couple times. Doesn't seem to matter how the pitch trim is set, it still bounces. It seems something if off with this plane.  It is getting beyond frustrating and am considering going to another turboprop to continue my RTW flying trip. I can land the Daher 930 without any bouncing. Does anyone have any tips or is it an issue that SWS is working on?

Bouncing is an issue with a lot of aircraft if you get it slightly wrong, even some of the new Default aircraft such as the Beaver.

Not sure if it is the newish ground effect they have put in, but with a lot of them I have to literally stall it onto the runway or I get bounces.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Interesting. I think there is definitely something going on with ground effect and light aircraft.

I think ground effect is about 50' AGL with MSFS. I seem to float well before I get within 10' above the runway. One thing I do with the Kodiak is try to bring her down around 70-75kts at time of flair. This may help minimize bouncing. Good Luck...

Thanks, I will try again tomorrow.

I find the gusts that are injected sometimes interfere with what's otherwise a stable approach on short final.

For the Kodiak you can try hitting the ref speed as close as possible with full flaps, and carry just a little power through the flare - don't chop the throttle like you might with a Cub, for example.
