I guess my point was that if you can afford the 4080 at £1,300-1,500, what's another few hundred for the 4090?... either one is basically an admission that money is no object when it comes to your graphics card - just get the best.

But they are out of stock for 4090 in the UK and some over £2,000, and a MSI 3090TI only in stock £1,318 They are getting hard to find and going up in price, that`s why I'm not bothering till next year for the 4080.

Poking around a few Canadian stores (bestbuy and newegg) and both have some availability for 4080 cards at non scalper prices, no 4090s to be found still though.  I guess that speaks a bit to the market’s reaction to the 4080.

Admittedly it’s tempting since I could actually buy one today, and I could run it off my 850w PSU without worries, but it does seem (as mentioned above) that if I’m willing to shell out for a 4080, it would be prudent to wait out 4090’s becoming available and coming down to more reasonable prices and buying one of those for several hundred dollars more.  Of course that’s hypothetical right now…

Decided to pull the trigger on a 4080…ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4080 OC.  Should be here Wednesday.  Ultimately i decided to go with the “a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush” approach.  I’ll  report back on my experience.

Interestingly this card is still cheaper than what i (over) paid for my 2080ti three years ago.

It may help to download the latest CPU-Z software to monitor your card connection.

Thanks I’ll be sure to update my copy of GPU-Z!

Cheaper than what I paid for my 3080Ti as well, granted I bought it when I finally could and I knew it was stupidly over retail.  🤑

i7-13700KF, 32gb DDR4 3200,  RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024

That’s part of my thinking…the 4080 may be be only a bit cheaper than the 4090 in terms of MSRP but in real dollars it’s close to half what 4090s are going for so I figured I may as well pull the trigger when I had the chance.

Besides, I was super restrained in not boiling anything in the 30xx range and I can only hold on for so long 🙂
