Did some testing about our new DC-3, landing this Bird is "Heavy metal" and needs a lot of practise but another one that  now always waits for new flights in my hangar..

This plane is awesome. The developer said there was some changes made that needs changing and added this fix.

"For those looking for a fix for DC-3 takeoff characteristics, and you have the ability to edit the flight model config file, try this ground effect table, lift_coef_ground_effect_mach_table = 0.055642:1.141188, 0.102462:1.094058, 0.196717:1.057306, 0.298358:1.041890, 0.400821:1.030873, 0.501642:1.024918, 0.601642:1.019753, 0.701642:1.015583, 0.8:1.010383, 0.9:1.005553, 1:1

But apart from that, he does an excellent job describing the design of the flight model and how it matches the real aircraft. Be careful of the mods used to the aircraft. Take a look at this interesting video that he describes how it flies and the comparison to the sim.

Hi and thank you !

I use this mod : z-dc3-mod ( flightsim.to ) and put that table already in this flight model config file and this does work realy fine - i like it, only the landing is tricky as with all taildraggers; for that practise is the keyword..

I did some realy good and some bad Landings but gets better and better with every flight i do..

cheers 😉

I even did some quite bad takeoffs until I watched the developer's video that explained that without any flaps you just let the tail come up and without pulling back on the yoke just let her climb away from the runway. Now I only have to work on my landings 🙂

Thank you !

Yes, you do not need any flaps for takeoff and you don't necessarily need them to land, especially not with cross winds. In that case it is better to land without flaps.
