December 3, 20223 yr Made a flight from Juneau to Seattle, landed and went around and had to slow down. Unfortunately and very unrealistically the reversers can be deployed in flight. Both in P3D and MSFS. I posted about it one time and I won't mention the reaction I got. I worked these in real life for years and I can tell you that after Lauda Air absolutely no plane's reversers can be deployed in flight. Jack Sawyer

December 3, 20223 yr I was on a United DC-8 flight from Vancouver to Seattle in 1976 which had to partially deploy its reversers during an ATC "by-the-book" job slowdown. The pilot said it was the only way to stay within the controller's requirement for that portion of the flight.

I modded an entire fleet so the reversers can never deploy in the air under any circumstances. Jack Sawyer

I believe the DC-8 was specifically designed to able to deploy thrust reversers in flight to help slow it down if needed, unlike most other commercial aircraft.

Yes, but the Boeing jets were not. You should see the engineering that went into fixing this. Air Lauda should never have happened. Jack Sawyer

The NASA Gulfstreams could to mimic the space shuttle approach. I know you can do it in a G3 with the takeoff/restow switch armed though it's not allowed😬. A dead head crew did it at altitude and almost lost it.There was a UK operator that had their G3s modded for inflight reverse when they had them. One of the guys in recurrent was talking about it being used for contaminated runway use on landing. They had a mod certificate and special hours inspection requirements. The C-17 was designed to do it. No airliner does it as you said. Modern planes don't allow it. In the G5/550, the FADEC will electronically command an engine to idle if the reverser unlocks inflight. December 3, 20223 yr Author Exactly. These are all special conditions, not commercial passenger planes. What Boeing designed as a fix I won't even discuss. So when I asked at PMDG, man, I was met with almost degrading rage. Just for pointing out that this isn't supposed to happen. Edited December 3, 20223 yr by Jack_Sawyer Jack Sawyer

If you find a bug you should file a support ticket via the actual PMDG website so the team can recreate and log the bug. That way you can also circumvent the forum police.

My grandmother told me a long time that if I can't say something nice about something then don't say anything at all so I'll diligently and valiantly hold my opinion to myself. 😉 Jack Sawyer

Just because the self-proclaimed forum police is as motivated as ever the support is very good from my experience. If you don't report the bug and they don't log it for a fix you will have to come over and fix my plane yourself. 😉 Edited December 3, 20223 yr by Nixoq
