December 24, 20223 yr Hello. Recently when attempting to start Prepar3D I get an error message saying, "You do Not have the required permissions to create a backup copy of scenery.cfg." I have administrator privileges and am running P3D as an administrator. I consulted Prepar3D's forum without result. I attempted a repair of Prepar3D but it still gives me this message. Any assistance is appreciated. December 24, 20223 yr Commercial Member Apparently an antivirus issue. solution applies for any antivirus: The problem was a very controlling security system "Bit Defender" When I allowed P3D to do its thing it did.

Saw that as well. All I'm running is what is included with Windows 11. So I removed Prepar3D and reinstalled it and that resolved the problem. December 27, 20223 yr Installing P3D in the default location, or into any other folder with a name starting with "Program Files" invites this kind of trouble because of Windows' sometimes overaggressive protections on writing to files in what it considers to be system folders. December 28, 20223 yr Commercial Member To be fair, this is an application issue - proper apps shouldn't be writing to their install folders. Every other operating system generally forbids it as a matter of course, and in Windows it's been this way for over 15 years. Cheers!
