Wow I have only just stumbled over this thread again. I actually thought it was well known hence the kind of off the wall throw away comment. Glad it helped you all out

    OK guys if it crashes restart trackir and then search for mouse emulation. Then it will work.

    If the movements stop in sim. Search the start menu for mouse emulation. Click that result and as long as trackir is working it should then start working in the sim again

just to necro this for anyone searching for "mouse emulation" and finding no joy, the program `TIRMouse.exe` can be found in `C:\Program Files (x86)\TrackIR5`

This does not work in Windows11 as there is no mouse emulation.
